Anyone know why Google Plus Local is only show a 6-pack instead of a 7-pack in some cases?

I'm searching for city + plumbers so there are heaps of results of I click the "list all results" link.

7 is just the limit for how many it displays.

So some keywords show 1 listing, some show 2, some show 6, etc etc.

As far as WHY they do it randomly like that, I doubt anyone really knows.

      What this guy said ^

However, I was just talking with someone the other day who claimed they knew some ways to trigger a 1pak. So, perhaps to some extent there is some rhyme and/or reason.

I'm sure it's not random but I don't know anyone who has figured out how it works. Also with as customized to the specific user as google is getting I'm am sure that the pack one person gets is not always the same pack another person gets.

Hell I get different search results in two different browsers on the same computer because one is using a work google account and another is using my personal account. Not to mention how different the results look from computer to computer in the dealership.

Even if you are not logged in google is tracking you to customize your search to you specifically.

Which could make selling SEO harder as business owners will think they are on page one for everyone when they are just on page one for themselves.

I thought they would show seven if there were at least 7 to show

I read somewhere that Google favour those businesses with a certain level of G+ presence and adwords too , so maybe if a business has that and a places listing they get priority and possibly exclusivity as they're seen to be baking Google so Google reciprocates and to be fair that would be a sensible business model for Google to follow even if theyre not.

Not sure where you read that but it was most likely anecdotal evidence which doesn't mean anything and surely isn't fact.

I have listings that have zero Google + presence and never did any PPC on Google and some of them are the ONLY local result on the first page of Google. So I could argue based on my experience the exact opposite, but that would be anecdotal as well.

My thoughts are that I have no idea why Google only show's one local listing versus seven.

I have seen 1's and 2's. It really just depends, the search pack as a whole isn't broken.
