"I'm not a coward, but this stuff gets scary sometimes. Here's what I mean..."
One of the biggest challenges that is rarely acknowledged when it comes to building a successful offline business or consulting practice is fear.
And no I'm not talking about fear of success.
I'm talking about fear of investing money in marketing your consulting business.
It doesn't matter if we're talking about one hundred dollars to get a flyer inserted into your chamber of commerce mailing or a ten dollar facebook ad campaign.
For most consultants, it's scary and causes them to spend another six months running through all the free ways to get clients.
That's tough because paid advertising is head and shoulders above 99.9% of free traffic methods.
That's why it's so easy to get a little jealous of guys like Ryan Deiss, Todd Brown or anybody (guru or not) who has taken the time to build a funnel and then pay to drive traffic through it.
But before those guys got "big-time", they had the courage to spend small amounts of their money on getting eyeballs to their offers, landing pages and websites.
See, in order for you to break through in the remainder of this year, it's going to take real courage to invest your hard-earned money to...
- Split test multiple traffic sources...
- Split test multiple landing pages...
- Split test multiple lead magnets...
- Split test email sequences...
- Split test different offers...
But you have to man up (no offense ladies) and buckle down and do it.
Why?
Because at the end of the day, you want a real consulting business that can generate qualified leads without requiring you to put in 70 hours a week doing cold calls, networking or door to door sales.
Here's my advice.
Start simple and start where you are right now.
Starting with a...
- Basic landing page building software that you already own.
- Basic five to ten topic/paragraph pdf report to giveaway.
- Basic three-seven email sequence in your autoresponder.
- Basic offer page on your current website to drive leads to.
- Basic consulting website you already have setup.
Then, get comfortable with investing at least $10-$20 per day to get eyeballs to your offer through facebook ads or banner ads.
Or you could invest $100-$150 every two weeks to get a flyer inserted into a chamber of commerce mailing.
You probably won't get a "flood of clients" that first go around, but give it at least 60 days of consistent action and I'll guarantee you that you'll start getting calls and emails.
See you at the top,
Chris
