I don't know if this is permitted to give a site as an example. I was once a call center agent before. our first choice to make local sales was through craigslist. another method we used to get phone numbers was by searching online directories for your target customers. we were getting phone numbers from manta.com.... the very important thing is that you you should determine first your target customers before making cold calls. telemarketing is not as easy as selling popcorns. that would depend on how you introduce your product and handle questions from your customers.

1. Change your goal from "make a few sales" to "spend 1 month calling a single niche, setti g appointmemts with decision makers".
2. Define the target niche.
3. Define 3 things that cause problems in that niche that your product can help solve.
4. Get in contact with the decision maker, mention the problems you identified in step 3. and see if they make a connection to them "I just met with Judy, my store manaher and she asked how we should deal with that problem".
5. If the problems you bring up are not really issues in their business then ask them what is.
6. Attach a dollar value to the problems to help crystalize in their mind the size and $ imoact it is causing their business. Relate your solution's cost to this.
7. Set an appointment to present your offer and attempt to close a sale.

For promoting your business, you may want to structure your sales calls from the point of view of solving a problem for your potential clients. For example, if your clients have a common problem of reaching previous customers, providing a membership solution. Then you can add your original product (hosting) to the mix.

Also, you may want to attack vertical markets first. Meaning, instead of target all local businesses, you could start with restaurant (just as an example). This way, you learn the vertical market, their issues and current problems and provide solutions targetted to them specifically.

Then, expand to other markets as you can grow your sales staff with the generated income.

I do this find any local business on page two of Google.then ..make a Google Plus Post to get them on page one..call them and explain to them what i have done..I just put yopu on Page one of
Google for this keyword...when they look they will like what they see..its easy to sell them my seo package then..

I like to keep things simple. I'd have done it this way.

First you need a list of potential customers. As it is regarding hosting & related services to local customers, I'd have made a list of the local business owners OWNING a WEBSITE. (website owners are most likely to need hosting & related services). A list of business owners name, numbers, emails, their website addresses, their physical addresses etc.

Then I'd have analysed their business, and would have contacted them in either/all of these three methods. First a customized e-mail depicting how I could help them, then a follow up phone call. (Adding a postal letter case wise).

I know a great deal of my customers who do the same and generate Leads/sales. If you need help in building such lists, I could help you build up local databases. Usually a combination of local list building techniques used with directories like manta, yellow pages and some other paid services gives you great, virgin lists.
