Bandit Signs (for Roofers) - Thinking ahead
On my way to my "9-5" gig today, I noticed a local roofing company had a bandit sign out on a pretty busy side road that exits the local major highway and leads to many different business office parks. It was the only sign out there too.
When I first saw it, I thought "Why in the heck is that out here already? We haven't even had any thunderstorms yet this season?" but then, it made sense - get into people's heads BEFORE they need you.
Recap:
- Where: Find the heavily traveled side roads (off of the major highway) that commuters would likely take to avoid the main street gridlock of the city. I would start with local office parks and work backwards from there - where are the main roads that lead to them? Do those main roads connect to a busy highway? This is the route that commuters will likely take to get to their cushy desk job in the mornings. And if your "side road" also happens to be near a school zone, that's even better! People have to slow down and will likely see your sign every....single...morning/afternoon.
- When: Plan ahead - if you live in the Midwest like I do, you are bound to have a few major thunderstorms within the next few months. Get your signs in front of the eyeballs before they need you, and maybe ....just maybe....you'll be the one they call when they need help.
- Bonus: While you're at it, why not drop off a few fliers at the front desk? Pick a building in an office park (there are bound to be several businesses within it assuming there are several floors)
