Anyone Doing Lead Gen into Industrial Manufacturing Niches? Could do With Some Pointers!
Searched around and didn't see much on this (a few bits here and there but nothing major).
I wanted to know if anyone had done any lead gen for the industrial manufacturing niche. We're talking about companies that design and build the likes of automated conveyor systems, or special purpose machinery and the like.
I'm just getting into lead gen, and started a "trial case" in the construction industry, which I'm almost at the point of selling leads for, but I would rather be targetting for this niche as I have a future plan of starting a recruitment company recruiting into the industry. I have recruited into it previously but some time ago and pure engineers, not looking at the sales cycle.
My concern is simple - are there opportunities for online and offline lead gen here? I have a contact who is a sales person into the industry but he is on holiday for a couple of weeks and I thought maybe an IMers angle would be interesting.
Research into potential keywords does not seem that promising, and let's be honest - the B2B sales lifecycle of niche manufacturing firms is very different to many styles done on here (housing contractors, etc).
I'll be "getting on the phone" and talking to some people once I manage to speak to my contact who can at least give me SOME insight (so I don't sound too lost when talking to these firms), but wanted to get some opinions from you guys...
Very much in initial idea gathering. Going to set up one or two more lead gen websites in the housing industry to properly get my head around how the lead gen websites work, but these industries are very much what I would like to be building leads for. It may well take many months of getting my head around yet, but keen to start learning and struggling for resources to self educate!

- What specific industry problems do you encouter?
- Where do leads tend to come from? SERPS sin't looking too promising - industry trade mags? Specific forums?
