Stop Faking it till you Make it with Offline Clients
Sorry guys, but I need to rant here... Like many of you, I make good money working with offline clients, helping them with their websites, e-commerce, internet and social media marketing. Right now I am helping the girlfriend of a friend and I am seeing things that drives me nuts and makes us all look bad.
Learn to do things without plugins. If it takes you 25 plugins to get a site to do what you want, you have no business doing it for someone else. It doesn't take a genius to google search and learn things like <a href... <div> etc.
Learn something besides wordpress. Yes, I love wordpress too but it is not the end all and say all of web sites. Many times wordpress is great but there are times it is not... See e-commerce rant below
If you haven't done e-commerce before, don't pretend its as easy as adding woo commerce and paypal and calling it a day. Only in rare circumstances should you be putting an e-commerce customer on wordpress and woo commerce.
Learn to format your pictures. Download a free version of Photoshop CS2 and save pictures in smaller sizes. Load times people, load times.
Quit putting them on crappy hosting. Yes I know wild weasel only costs you $99 a year but its junk hosting.
Ughh I just want to find the guy who did this site (I would bet money he reads this forum and yes, I am talking to you) and smack him around with a large trout (yes IRC users, I am dating myself). When you do dumb stuff like this, it makes our jobs harder to sell our services because they no longer trust us.
Guess what a client doesn't mind hearing. "Hmm, yes I understand your need, I have a couple platforms in mind, I just need to find out which one is best for you."
