Where do I find people to survey?

First off, I'm a freelance writer and totally new to marketing, so this might be a noob question:

I recently took a surveying job for Counselor magazine that'll require do ~120 man-on-the-street interviews before the end of the month. (I've already done 30.) When my advance check comes, I'll use part of it to hire three of my friends to help me out. But there's a problem:

I live in central Florida, where people avoid going outside during the day this time of year. (You might have heard it's really hot.) Plus we usually get hellstorms every day between 4 to 7, and the survey's only for people with full-time jobs or students, so that usually wipes out my best chance of catching them.

I've gotten really good results at the city's biggest park on weekends, but aside from there, I haven't found any public places that enough people congregate. And to no one's surprise, I haven't found any stores or malls that'll let me talk to their customers. (I've been calling around.)

I haven't had much luck getting anywhere near enough people through my network yet. I'm considering cold calling people, but I think I'd save that for a last resort. Same goes for door-to-door: I used to do that for a political canvassing job and ******* hated it, but I'll do it again if I need to.

Any ideas where to find more people?
