You Must Learn How To Sell Technology To Make $$$$

Are You Confusing Activity with Accomplishment?

Definitions from the Internet:
  • Activity = something that is done as work or for a particular purpose
  • Accomplishment = the successful completion of something : the act of accomplishing something
Professional Sales (Offline Marketing/Consulting) is a results oriented business.

Either...
  • You are making money or you are not
  • You are meeting with prospects or you are not
  • You are making presentations or you are not
  • You are making appointments or you are not
  • You are prospecting or you are not
How much time do you spend avoiding the above in the guise of "planning to get ready", trying to sell stuff without talking to people, looking for a gimmick to get new customers, convincing yourself that cold calling doesn't work, etc.

There is no grey/gray area and that's what I love about it.

If you are engaged in activity that leads to the above, then you are serious about your business and will be on your way to getting results.

Did you know that people who make a good living (multiple 6-figures) in sales are proud of what they do?....... and will not hesitate to tell others they are in "sales".

Is it your goal to make money selling services to local business owners?

There are no secret selling techniques, tricks or gimmicks.....simply put, you have to learn how to sell.

Here are my recommendations to get you started.

Go to amazon, put in these titles and order these books and stop wasting your money on wso's that don't work.

  • The Ultimate Sales Machine, Chet Holmes
  • Question Based Selling, Thomas Freese
  • How To Sell Technology, Paul R DiModica
  • The Secret Code of Success: 7 Hidden Steps to More Wealth and Happiness, Noah St. John
Most of these books are slightly more than a wso, not full of hype and will work for you if you read and take action.

Read 15 minutes/day 24/7/365 and take action.

You will be surprised at how much you will learn, retain and accomplish in 90 days by simply reading 15 min/day then taking action.

You will develop/improve your business acumen, your talk track with customers/prospects will be more focused and you will separate yourself from all the amateurs out there that are not willing to do this simple task.

YOUR CONFIDENCE WILL SOAR!

Good Selling......

Love what you said about "planning to get ready"

I used to that A TON. I would get my direct mail materials together: envelopes, stamps, etc. and say "okay tomorrow I will finally get all of it together and get my direct mail campaign out and sent"

then the next day came and I would think, "Maybe I should go over my sales letter and fix stuff up/ research how I can get an even higher response from my letter" etc.

It would literally take me weeks to get one small campaign out.

Best thing anyone can do is take action and start just putting yourself in front of prospects and refine and fix from there.
    Signature

The best thing you can do is put yourself out there.

      Absolutely!

IMHO, poor prospecting is better than...... NO prospecting.

No one starts out as an expert.

Even after attending a workshop on selling, you have to get out there and use it/tweak it until you get results.

        AlexTee,

Great post. For anyone that reads Chet's book on the list, be careful, a few techniques in there can potentially really update a potential great, high dollar, client. He says (past tense since he has passed away) - that he doesn't condone lying, but he sure pushes using misleading statements (or lying by omission) to get to the decision maker. A lot of his other stuff is very good and useful, but take it with a grain of salt.

I control some large budgets, for both my business and several others...I've never seen anyone that uses his techniques to get to me or other business owners last long in our area - they tend to go hungry.

Those books are like 100 WSOs on steroids in terms of content.

          Hi Shark,

          Thanks for your response.

If they took the time to read the book, use the technique(s) and.... GOT TO YOU OR OTHER BUSINESSES.......yet didn't last long and went hungry, they probably didn't follow up, make the necessary adjustments to fit their marketplace and seal the deal.

I know this stuff works because I use it.....

I really agree with this. reading is your best asset when it comes to building your business. Using the technologies to help boost your process only helps speed things up for you

I really do believe that if people on this forum that voice their frustration about selling would read material from people that actually sell they would free themselves from a lot of frustration.
