Using t-shirts a good offline strategy?

I am struggling to get traffic to my site, and I thought having shirts would be a good idea. It would be a little costly, for the little amount of traffic it could bring. The niche is fitness, and i could wear the shirt to the gym, or anything fitness related. Anyone else used clothing as a means of advertising?

the site is: FitLifeAddiction.com

I don't think it would help.
What kinds of marketing have you already done?

Edit: Stop stealing people's images before you get sued!

Hey there FitLife and welcome to the world of Internet Marketing. One of the biggest killers in this industry is spending more money than you're making on things that may not even interest people (trust me I've been there). The second thing is that you don't just want traffic to your site, you want buyers right? You want the people who are already looking for you that are already buying whatever it is that you're selling/promoting.

So what you need to start doing is narrowing down who your target market is and you can do this by using Facebook and LinkedIn graph search. When you have found your target market, start connecting one on one with people and build a RELATIONSHIP, find out their struggles and their pain. Then you can then provide a solution to their problems by sending them a link to your site where they can opt in and get what they want from you.

    I hope that this helps.

I think that maybe you are on to something? just not looking into the right direction. Could you get shirts with your web URL printed and use them for advertising? well sure you could. I do that for most all of my business' So for people to suggest not to are just kinda silly. Just simply putting your URL down the sleeve of a long sleeve and then layering it with a T-shirt over the top. Or some more detailed graphic on the back of a dickies work shirt or on a t-shirt.

You might want to even look at getting a decal for your car? PM me and I can help you with that.

But here is where you might be able to get a bit bigger...You really might want to look at teespring. Your URL is a good name. It fits your demographic well. All you would need is some fitting graphics. Brand your designs by placing your URL in the design.

To really pull something like this off, you might want to consider giving your blog a bit of a facelift.

    Hope that Helps!

    Savidge,
Its not that I don't think branded shirts are a bad idea.... just as a source of traffic.
You have to wear a shirt, and hope someone notices. Then, they have to remember what the shirt said. Finally, if they make it to the site, they have to perform some type of action that will lead to profit.
The tracking and conversions are a mess with this.
Branded stuff is a branding play, not a traffic play!

      Yes.
Your URL is not a benefit statement. It isn't a sales letter. It doesn't create demand. On the other hand, why wouldn't you wear a shirt with your URL on it?

Nobody in the history of this planet, has ever seen a shirt with a domain name on it, and said, "Wow! I'm going to stop what I'm doing, write down that URL, and get online to find out what they do".

Sorry, it's not bad having a shirt on like that, but it won't get you orders.

And it isn't really marketing. It is a conversation starter though.

For me personally... just as Claude stated, a conversation starter. In my satellite business it is standard attire, so beyond branding it is a "Professional look" For my websites. I wear Branded shirts all the time ( I have a Vinyl machine so I can pretty much think it cut it press it and wear it )

In particular. I have a 5 year old that plays soccer. I happen to have an affiliate soccer site. I wear the branded shirt to practices and games. He also wears one under his jersey. Between my BRANDED Satellite truck, and my BRANDED shirts, I don't just "start" conversations.

But back to the OP. If you really look at what I was saying. I was suggesting not just to wear a shirt. But to take the next step and basically create a clothing line. His / Her URL is probably catchy enough, and with the right implementation on the web site, he / she might actually have a go at it. So really I wasn't talking so much about BRANDING ( even tho that is the end result ) I was suggesting a product line, and a suggestion to try it on for size as it were with a free setup.

I think you would rather need to grow an audience first, and then start to sell t-shirts in order to grow it even more.

People in the Fitness niche that I know are selling lots of t-shirts are also very popular on Youtube (The Hodge Twins, Chris Jones, Omar Isuf etc.)

I think everyone has the same concern: you wouldn't get a good amount (any?) traffic from wearing a shirt at the gym. having the URL or even logo won't peak enough interest in people walking by.

If you printed 10,000 shirts and handed them out (costly), gave them to everyone at your gym, maybe 1000 will wear it, maybe 100 will notice those people, maybe 10 will visit the site? =) vague calculation there but you see the point, having shirts done up is decent for branding when you do it on a super large scale (in my opinion). I like Savage's comment about making it more of a clothing line, so you are now in a different business to make the shirts look good and a logo/slogan that is wearable. (again, you are now in a different business here though).

I would look at advertising on linkedin and facbeook. target your ads to fitness people that may click on your affiliate links.

if the shirt is good, and the logo is bad ashed other people will wear them. The ULTIMATE flattery? seeing one of your work shirts on e-bay, and later noticing it went for $45.00. ( It was on a Dickies black short sleeve work shirt, with a biker design of my logo )

Yes, it helps a little. But make sure the url you put in the t-shirt is easy to memorize. Goodluck!
