a Dish Network, DIRECTV company wants 2,000+ leads a month on a pay per call basis

Has anyone have experience with marketing a Dish Network, DIRECTV company?

This company spends $12,000 with Yellow Pages to get 1500-2000 calls a month but YP don't deliver.

Wants to limit their financial exposure with Pay Per Call Lead Generation.

Hope to see if someone has insight in this niche for the best way to market this kind of company/service on the internet.

Door to door selling, sign up booths and mailings is what I have mostly see with this niche - are these the best ways?

How much would a lead be worth?

Any insight/thoughts will of great help.

David

How many calls they are willing to buy and how much demand there is for Dish/DirectTV in there area are two different things. I've had potential clients tell me they are willing to spend $500-$1000 per month on leads, but the reality is I couldn't deliver that many even if I wanted to because there simply wasn't enough demand based on what I was charging them per lead.

Using your numbers ($12k for 2000 calls), that equates to $6 per call - right? That's a pretty good deal for them.

Dish Network also has their own affiliate program HERE. And it looks the payout is $135 per sale. However, I wouldn't do that if I were you. You can read other posts on PPCall, but in my experience, when you deliver a call that meets a certain criteria (like geographic location, and call duration [1-2 minutes]), you've done your job.

So how many calls will it take to make a sale? ...be generous and say 1 out of 10. So, if that's the case, then each call should be worth $13 or so. In addition, most affiliate networks already have a PPCall for Dish and Direct TV and their payouts (to affiliates) are usually in the $8-12.

So to answer your question: Between $6-$13 per call is a good ballpark range.

Here is an interesting way to look at this. DirecTv in particular in recent quarters has been increasing by 1% per month. That overly does not sound like much, but considering the base is just short of 20,000,000, that means they are increasing by 200,000. BUT, this is not the whole story. This is an indication of the growth and not the number of actual signups.

In the satellite industry there is a flip factor. that being all the people that thier contract is up, and swing over to the other provider, in DirecTv's case that would be dish. This swing can be somewhere in the 1% range as well. So to actually show 1% of growth they have to overcome the 1% loss as well.

That means your overall demand is 400,000 customers per month with DirecTv alone. The numbers are similar with Dish Network, However their numbers are on the smaller side. But if you are dealing with BOTH, your overall demand is in the 600,000 range.

Now that we know demand, the question is how to get them. I can tell you from a few years experience Door hangers do not work. ( as in excess of 30,000 hung and my response rate? 2 phone calls ) I can tell you from experience the tent at a show or simply in a grocery store parking lot DOES work. Add in a setup like I have with 2 trucks a tent and 5 Televisions and it REALLY works. Direct Mailing works. Sunday newspaper adverts do not ( for me anyways - there are simply to many in there - full color full sheet type of stuff ) local newspapers do work - except Sundays.

So online avenues. ( all I need is more competition ha ha ha ) Facebook has been good. My local page has been good. Craigslist has not been bad.

MY overall best performer? my database. EVERY sale that you make, every prospect that says they are under contract ( you get the date they run out ) all this goes in the data base. THIS is gold. THIS is 10% conversion or better. Its simply a matter of staying in long enough for this to be effective. REMEMEBER when you use THIS list. 2 years and one month is your call back date on a contract. This is the time period that both DirecTv and Dish Network drop a client from the returning list, to a new customer list.

I recently chatted with someone that sells internet/dish here in Canada. 90% of their sales are from door to door. They simply target small towns/areas where there is an advantage to having internet or tv via satellite.

If they know their offer is better they start by putting up signs that they will be coming soon. They do door hangers/direct mail that they will be coming soon then they come in and sell door to door.

They had no interest in buying online leads as this method was very successful for them.

      Plessard,

Yes the close ability is in the door to door. I like the build up of this. signs, mailers hangers and door to door. NICE I do signs and they do work. I place door hangers ( I get them for free ) when we sweep through neighborhoods in our door to door efforts. Like I stated if the hangers were not free... I would not bother.

I also do TV advertising during the local news Monday thru Friday 3 commercials a night. worth every penny. Actually cheaper than radio, and better converting.
