Are new homeowner/renters lists public information?

I'm looking for lists containing info on new homeowners in a particular area & if possible, new renters also (US & Canada).

I've seen a lot of websites selling this info (1 zip code on InfoUSA for example, is $1600) but was just wondering if this data can also be obtained directly from the local municipality? If so, figured that would be significantly cheaper than purchasing online.

Thanks.

I heavily market to this group and I get all my info from infofree.com.

      Hey Ross,

In your marketing to business owners, do you ever cross reference data to reach them at home via direct mail? We will be testing this under the ASSUMPTION that open --> response rates will be higher than just mailing them at their businesses.

      Thoughts?

    Goalie35,

I'm curious to know what type of products can you market to this demographic?

      Rich Roberts,
While there's definitely a ton of products a new homeowner could use (I just bought my 1st home, so I speak from experience), I'm using these lists to promote services & local businesses (i.e. power washings, gutter cleanings, landscaping, painters, etc).

If you're looking to promote products, I unfortunately have no experience with that, so I'm probably not the best to ask. Best I can tell you is, as a new homeowner, most of my product purchases have been in outdoor items & tools (lawnmower, weed wacker, etc). Not sure if there's any good affiliate programs for these types of products, but I can tell you as a new homeowner, when I see an ad or mailing promoting deals for these items, I at least take notice.

Your local newspaper will usually list new home owners in the real estate section. They will include the home address and name of the homebuyer, an ideal way to build a list for home or family related services.
