Going offline.. providing IM services to small businesses

Hey Everybody,

After doing abit of online marketing and web design, Ive been asked by a few friends to help design and manage the online aspects of there business. Who on here has done something similar? Do you custom quote each job or offer like a monthly service? How do you quote a design job?

    I would suggest building a recurring income model, look at what the local competition charge. Price what you feel your worth whilst being able to get your clients a decent ROI.

    Try package your services to create value and differentiate from the competition.

    Once you build your client base to a decent level you no need panic to where the money is going to come in #residualincome

    Consulting services is all about the customer, you have to empower them to overcome obstacles that are interfering with their success, sometimes that means getting personal.

    I have been doing this for more than 20 years, what I have found out about small business owners is that they do not want to change anything.

    They are usually stuck in the past with the idea that what worked in the past should still work now.

    " This is the way we have always done it and it has worked for us "

    I hear that all the time, along with the idea that digital marketing is just not for our business.

    They still pay the yellow pages thousands of dollars every year for less and less productive ROI

    They go on the radio often sounding like they are out of their depth or just not well prepared, they advertise in the local newspapers where often fewer subscribers ever see the ads they pay for.

    They are stuck in the past and getting them to see the future and where it is headed is like pulling the teeth of a donkey on the edge of a cliff.

    You have to show them the truth, its not about the pitch, (not anymore)

    Its about Reality and showing them how you can provide real benefits in the here and now.

    (Of course you actually have to be able to do that)

    Small business owners these days have already heard all the pitches about how they can get rich online.

    They are skeptical and they should be.

    Results are what they want to see, not promises that do not involve banking more profits.

    Show them what you can do or show them what you have done, facts speak louder than a hundred website templates.
