Does CL ads still work? I posted 25 ads per day NYC, got 40 visits?

Does CL ads even work anymore? It seems like to a lot of people it still works but for me I have spent around $300 for 25 ads per day NYC but don't seem to get anymore; does anyone has any opinion on this? your own experience of something?

Lest re frame this a bit.

Why does it matter if you received 40 visits, 10 visits or a 1,000 visits?
Is that what really matters to you? How many visits you had?
Likely a big number of those were competitors checking you out.

What you should be concerned with is how many people bought, wanted more info etc..?
Am I correct in assuming that so far this has not been profitable for you?
I assume you would not be posting this question if you got 40 visits and 10 sales.

Visits versus making this profitable and worth doing is a completely different issue and many people will be glad to help with that problem but we would need to know more about your results and funnel.

There are many people profiting from craigs and various local sites but it has little do do with visits and more about the message, funnel and offer.

I would be happy with 1 visit and one conversion if I had an ad that said we build web sites for people with a 100k budget and I got one visitor and 1 buyer ;-)

I see what you are saying, but I guess my real question is should I still use CL to post ads? For CL if it's such a popular site, 40 visits is not alot; want to know if the method is still working, it's just my ads or other issues I have messed up?

have you tested anything to see if you get a different result? Doing the same thing day in and day out and getting about the same result and wondering why its not better is like well hitting your thumb with a hammer and knowing it hurts, but then doing it again thinking the results may be different?

So if your ads are only getting opened 40 times a day.. well then maybe you should look at your listing title maybe? yeah yeah that would be where I would start!

no just my first, week. I see your point and your logic, but what I was thinking is that; is the problem with my titles or with cragislist; is it that craigslist method don't work anymore; and no one clicks on these or is it my title that is not making people click on my website?

I use CL from time to time. For what I use it for it works. But in ANYTHING that is done online to get optimal results, you need to test.

There is only ONE way to ever know for sure, and that is to try different titles. Its called A / B testing!

Yeah, just want to confirm that people are getting leads from CL; but which is a good CL to post in? I tried 25 ads per day in NYC, that maybe too much competition and not enough ads... any recommendatinos if that's true or not?

There are many factors to consider when you are looking to use Craigslist as a source of leads. How many ads are listed where the ads are listed from ( IP Address ) are you using one account. are you changing up the ads? again there are MANY variables.

Are any of your ads flagged? are you ghost listing?

I apparently should be writing an WSO or something... but here would be my check list to a successful CL campaign.
      • Post your listings during peak hours ( 5 to 7 am and 6:30 to 9:30pm )
      • Keep your message short and sweet ( concise I guess would be a better word )
      • include a call to action
      • Link to your site IN FRONT of relevant content
      • Provide instant gratification if possible
      • try using a service approach vs a sale approach
      • Use attention grabbing headlines <-- right now this is where you need to focus
      • Use a photo in your listing
      • wait 48 hours to renew a post
      • Craigslist is all about consistency... build a routine and keep to it.
      Avoid ghosting

ghosting is generally done from an IP level so change it up.
      • Post from the house. your friends house the coffee shop etc.
      • Make sure your ads vary.
      • DO NOT post in multiple regions and categories.
      • Find the best category match for what you are offering and stick with it.
*** added little secret. change the location of your files on your computer when you are attaching files.

I think the suggested number of max posts is somewhere in the 30 range. I might consider dropping down to 20 a day. A better safe than sorry practice.

Again you simply need to test. there is literally no difference in what you are doing than using a landing page, or email marketing. you can read on the warrior forum TIME AND AGAIN the importance of testing to get things JUST right. If you have only been at it a week, you have just started. It really can take that long to get things going depending on what category you are in.

Aside from doing it for you... I don't know what else to tell you! Good luck!

So, we always tell our posting clients that the first thing they should do is a competitive analysis on Craigslist. How often you need to post is gauged by how often your competitors post. Then you'll know how frequently and which days you need to be posting to match their marketing effort and to keep your business visible.

Secondly, take the time to review all your competitors' ad content. What is the Unique Selling Proposition (USP) of what you are offering. Why should a prospective client choose you over your competition? What is your edge? You should always keep the perspective of your clients when looking through the section you intend on posting in.

      Hope that helps
      George
