Is it okay to offer an incentive for a review?

As the title says; I was wondering what warriors thoughts are on businesses offering an incentive, such as a free desert, for customers to leave honest reviews, good or bad.

I am not clear on whether it would be allowed by the review sites either.

Your opinions and experiences are welcome.

Each review site has its own TOS which may discourage that kind of incentive.

From a general standpoint, as long as you aren't REQUIRING a POSITIVE review for the incentive, there is no fowl play.

Similar Example: I got a couple tacos at a "Jack in the Box" franchise. Looking at my receipt I noticed an offer for 2 free tacos if I submitted a survey reviewing my experience.

Just don't discriminate if someone leaves you less than 5 stars, and use it as a prompt to action if they are publicly dissatisfied.

You don't even need to offer an incentive. Just remind them after the order through an automated email or redirect to leave their feedback after the order.

The thing about the Jack in the Box offer is that the survey is their own. It is not encouraging you to leave a review on a third party site. There is nothing wrong with offering your customers something in order to build reviews on your own site, or to get feedback for your business.
