I Need info on the best WSO available for Offline

I used to do SEO couple years ago. I was out of tou=ch and I know lots have changes have happened since I stopped.

I am looking to get back to Local SEO. Can you please suggest the best WSO's available that will bring me back to speed.

I need info on the latest ranking factors, how to get clients etc.

I have a bunch of LOCAL exact match domain names. I do not know if they are worth anything anymore. I heard google is not giving preference to exact match domains.

Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat, but just started a 'refresher course' which seems to be OK - I've only just started. PM me for link if you want more info (it is a jvzoo affiliate link, hence my not posting).

I personally don't see any changes to my exact match domains, they are still ranking well. I do, however, feel that long-tail exact match domains may suffer (my opinion - not necessarily fact)

Right now, the grand daddy of ranking anything (local or not) is building a PBN (Personal Blog Network). Just subscribe to Alex Becker's (Source-Wave) list and he will keep you updated on SEO.

As far as getting clients, he runs Facebook ads to "irresistible offers" with "Double Your Money Back" kinds of guarantees. This converts, obviously. The purpose is not to make money, but to build their trust.

He would rank them for easier keywords for cheap. Then, get to know them a little more, and then offer to get them ranked for more keywords (his money makers).

Actually, that was the hot thing about a year and a half ago.

The truth is, if you learn SEO... you learn SEO. You don't learn about "magical" tactics, you learn about different ranking signals and how to tie it all together for the best results. The funny thing is that 99% of SEO freelancers and companies don't realize is that the majority of your SEO efforts should be focused on bringing in traffic NOT through the search engines. When your link building efforts are in place to bring in referring traffic instead of search traffic, your search traffic will also rise.

Ensuring your business listing is consistent and matches across the top 50 local directory sites and social sites is very important to SEO, probably one the most important things you can do.

Actually Google still LOVES EMDs for local.

It's just if all you have going for you is the EMD it won't rank. But if you are doing everything as well or better than the competition AND have an EMD on top of that you'll normally rank higher. (Check any popular City + KW phrase and you'll see.)

So true! And if you are talking ranking local businesses in Google Local (in the pack or carousel) there are bunch of unwritten rules and best practices you need to follow. Many WSOs don't keep up on all those and just teach last year's tricks, which can cause more harm than good.

I just worked on David Mihm's 2014 Local Search Ranking Factors - the Local Search "bible" if you will. Leading Local Search experts all put their minds together to reverse engineer the local algo.

The new one is due out in September, so that will be a must-read once it's published if you want to learn more about what controls the ranking order these days. Although with the Pigeon algo, everything is really unsettled and up in the air right now.
