In looking through these offers for website businesses - what a bunch of crap. $30 spam niche sites ??? What a great way to get your server's IP address penalized forever by Google.

Look, as professional developers, we're a team of designers with nearly 20 years of experience and what struck as desperately needed on here was website packages that actually were proven businesses with real business models.

Let's get to the point here. As most of you are already familiar, Flippa is a terrific place for finding hidden gems of proven successful websites ( just as long as you are willing to sort through all the junk get rich quick sites and spam niche sites ). Every once in a while though there is one that really stands out for its unique concept or angle the owner has carved out of the crowded internet landscape.

We've been turning a healthy profit off of cloning these types of sites for years now - after all - where else can you get traffic stats, verified income reports and detailed operational plans than from Flippa?

When we were looking through Warrior Forum and the subsection Websites for Sale - we immediately thought to ourselves that this was a great place to sell premade cloned sites created from successful Flippa listings.

From our perspective - it doesn't make a lot of sense to create one cloned site and sell it just once. For example, if it takes 20 hours to build a fully functioning clone then at $45 per hour, that site has to sell for a minimum of $900 and that doesn't take into account office costs etc.

But if we take that site and sell it 10 times over for $199 then suddenly we have a viable product that provides our agency a revenue stream - while at the same time provides Warrior members with an actual site that is turn key and based on a proven concept.

This site is unique in both traffic, audience and simplicity - and that is gets zero traffic from Google. It is an excellent example of the massive niche of news publishing created by Facebook that has opened up due to a very unique set of circumstances. All of these factors have combined to create a huge opportunity for publishers.

Until 18 Months Ago - Google Controlled Who Succeeded in the News Publishing Niche

Google introduced the concept of what is commonly known as the " sandbox " as a way of preventing newly launched websites from being indexed before they had been around for a while. This strategy had two important factors. The first was to prevent the ability to gauge immediate results from any tweaks made to a website which would give away the algorithm to ranking high - and secondly - it prevented spam sites from getting any traction in the marketplace. As a side effect - it has made getting any type of current events / news website off the ground very difficult for the simple reason that without a deep budget for generating traffic, getting any kind of traction was near impossible in the first six months.

For example, let's say you decided to start an online news publication which for both readership and SEO ranking needs to be updated constantly with new content. You produce a half dozen articles a day and maybe within six months you start to see a trickle of traffic from the good graces of Google finally deciding to index your site. Meanwhile you basically have spent the last six months writing over a 1000 articles to literally nobody - and have zero traffic or revenue coming in. For all but the well funded or those with an incredible stubborn streak far outside of our understanding, building a profitable and relevant news portal wasn't an option.

Then something interesting happened.

In 2014, Facebook quietly announced that a significant change was taking place to the way a person's news feed worked and started including news and articles related to a person's interests. Most people didn't give this a second thought.

Few recognized the significant impact this would have on the publishing industry until this past year and the 2016 Presidential election. In the background sites like Brietbart.com grew from an obscure blog to a major publishing giant that owns a huge readership base among Republicans and right wing minded individuals - and is now valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. ( Forget about whether you agree with their ideals or not )

They simply picked an audience and developed content that audience wanted to read about - and social media did the rest. Conservatives read conservative news and Democrats read Liberal based news. The point is there is a lot of money to be made from both sides as this site on Flippa proves.

What gave growth to sites like Brietbart, the Huffington Post and other news aggregators isn't organic search results from Google - Google hates sites like theirs. Instead social media and in particular Facebook was the traffic medium that grew their site in both new readers and continued traffic back to the mother ship.

The entire publishing industry is changing right before our eyes and people's distrust of the main stream media has never been higher - as is their willingness and hunger for new news sources. Traditional media is under siege and many would argue so it should be. All of the main media news organizations are owned by massive corporations with specific agenda's and the ability to control public opinion. But as we saw with the election of Donald Trump this past fall - the main stream media has lost a lot of its clout and influence while underground media outlets are growing at a rapid pace.

The point is - since the dawn of the printing press there has never been a greater opportunity to enter this incredible realm of news publishing and to become the next Huffington Post or Brietbart News.

Which brings us back to the site at Flippa...

This site called " Make America Great Again Today " ( https://flippa.com/6969699-makeamericagreattoday-com ) was a spin off from Donald Trump's slogan. This brutally designed website at its peak was generating $15,576 in Adsense advertising alone as you can see in the verified earnings section of the listing. Keep in mind this is verified income that Flippa has documented so we know the seller isn't full of crap.




It's no wonder though they are generating huge ad dollars - check out the traffic coming to this site - 94% of which came from social media and in particular Facebook. In July they just missed hitting 4 million page views. Are you kidding me ???



In just six months, this very basic site grew from a simple start up to earning a significant income with limited investment in traffic generation. He simply posted articles on his news site and built an audience on Facebook which then sent traffic back to the site day after day while it picked up massive momentum.



Check out this screenshot below of their page on Facebook and an impressive 480,932 likes. Can you imagine what you could do with nearly a half million likes on a Facebook page in both cross marketing opportunities and ad campaigns.



The site then sold via auction on Flippa for $23,500 which I suspect was a bit of a fire sale as the developer didn't expect Trump to win and wanted to get what he could for it before the election. This is what scared off a lot of would be buyers as well but in retrospect this was the deal of the year for that size of audience. ( About 4.8 cents per follower )

For those of you that have an aptitude for numbers and business - I'm suspect I have your attention.

Reverse Engineering the Formula this Site Used to Grow from Nothing to 2.4 Million Page Views Per Month

As I have already mentioned, this site really caught our attention not just for how much it was earning - but for how fast it had grown. The site owner was clearly on to something and even though the internet is constantly evolving, the window of opportunity was certainly there for a clone concept. As with any project we take on for clients or for our own network of websites - we look for concepts that can be scaled and grown rapidly with minimal time and financial investment.

In looking at the Make America Great Again, there business model was relatively straight forward as is best described as

1) Choose a news topic the audience is clamoring for more news to read about. The Alt Right Media segment is one of the fastest growing segments in all of North America but so is celebrity gossip and hot subjects like the Black Lives Matter movement as well Pro Life etc.
2) Create a news website and start publishing daily content gathered from around the web with the most readability. Curate content from other sites to get going quickly and then adjust from there.
3) Boost popular posts on Facebook to gain likes to the FB page
5) Add new posts from site to Facebook to drive traffic back to website where ad revenue is earned.
6) The site can be run successfully with about 1 hour of time investment per day.

What makes this site concept truly unique is that it doesn't rely on Google for any traffic. This is a huge shift in the way traditional traffic models work where you have to create unique content, optimize each and every page, worry about penalties and be totally dependent upon them for your success.

It's not rocket science and it's not a completely autopilot concept - but this Flippa listing shows us that there is a huge amount of money to be made in news publishing and the opportunity to right now for those wanting to be part of the massive growth being experienced by news and media websites.

As a boutique development firm, we're experts at cloning sites like this one and in most cases, significantly improving on them. What we wanted to create was a one person operation that was a media news portal that looked professional and was fully functioning. The key for any site like this is that it is as automated as possible so that while it gains readership and traffic it requires minimal investment in both time and money. This particular site is quite unique in its back end design. We set up a plugin called RSS Autopilot that imports RSS feeds from any site we ask it to. We then run it on a daily basis and it imports the posts from the target news sources. It's possible to set the site to be on complete autopilot and let the posts automatically go life upon import but in the case of this site, we curate the posts we want to be live on the site. The plugin allows us to also just use the primary excerpt contained in most RSS news fees or scrape the entire article.

The idea was that it was much easier to see what the current trending articles were in one single control panel than it was to go to a bunch of websites looking for news. You can edit the post as much as you want - or post it as is. All images associated with the post are also automatically downloaded to the site.

Once a post is published it automatically is posted to the sites Facebook page with no additional effort or steps on our part.




As you can see from the below screen shot, after running the RRS Feeds plugin we are presented with dozens of articles of which we can sort through and pick and choose the ones we want to publish. We've set the plugin to automatically put all of the posts as draft and waiting for review.





With some of the feeds there is repeated content that we didn't want to include or have to manually take out every time we published a post - so we added an automated plugin that strips / replaces any text on a page we see show up too often and don't want in. With Wordpress there is a plugin for everything !

A Word About Copyright Issues.
Curating content has long been a contentious subject on the internet. In a case like the Deplorable Majority website - we always include a link back to the original article as well as leave the author bio information intact.

We've on a wide variety of projects have never had an issue with any site being upset for using their content - although we wouldn't recommend scraping content from a site like ABC news where they are more strict about using reproduced content. Even if a site is wanting you to not use their content -they will send you an email asking you to stop and remove the content you have used which is easy to do. Many sites are fine with it or turn a blind eye as long as you give them credit for the article and a link back. Another technique is to scrape sites that are already scraping the content from elsewhere which eliminates first person content claims. Our premise is to clone the successful site sold on Flippa and the technique they used to build up an audience. For long term viability, we'd suggest using this method to get traction and then switch to your own rewritten content once you saw the audience to justify it.

In the case of the demo site - we manaully reveiw each article we want to use, edit it via Wordpress and then publish it. All of which takes maybe 5 to 10 minutes per post and could easily be farmed out to off shore workers to do for next to nothing - which would put your site on autopilot.
