I am selling my Wordpress Plugin Business due to ill health and not being able to provide the time I would like to the business. The Datafeed Import Plugin is designed for Affiliate Marketers. The business has been very successful over the last few years making $55,000 in the last three years.

It is a very complex and advanced software, that has been built up over time. It is not something I have just built in order to sell, this is a real business with real customers and users.

I thought I would post some details of the plugin business here as I have been asked my a number of Warriors

The Plugin

I developed the datafeed import plugin for Wordpress as a personal project to help me with my affiliate marketing some 5 or 6 years ago. At that time it was a very simple Datafeed import plugin, however, friends in the Affiliate industry soon started asking for copies so I started to sell it commercially.

Since then the plugin has developed into the market leader and is now a very sophisticated piece of software with 5 years of development behind it.

As you see the site is currently hosted on my digitalquill.co.uk domain, I am happy to either transfer that website to a domain of your choice, or I have datafeedimportplugin.com which will be included within the sale.
I will then put a permanent redirect from my site to the new location.

Alternatively we can discuss the site remaining where it is and you be given access.

The Business

I have been selling the plugin for 4 years and have built up a steady business.

The plugin sells for £25, although I do run offers from time to time.

Sales figures for the last 3 years are as follows:

2012 - £10,575.74
2011 - £11,948.66
2010 - £12,133.77

The main work in the business is support and the continued development of the plugin, this has always been a side line for my main business which is where the crux of the sale comes in (see below 'Reason for sale'

The sales software I use manages the sale via paypal and the customers download account. I have also modified this software so that you can sell subscriptions linked to a product sale, thus allowing you to charge for premium support or additional extensions to the plugin. I have not utilized this functionality yet.

The Sale

I am ideally looking for someone who can buy the business outright, however, if that is not possible, a deal where someone sells the plugin on licence from me with a monthly licence fee.

I am looking for in the region of £20,000 for the business, which is less than 2 years income. Usually a business like this would be valued at 3 years income.

Reason for sale

Unfortunately in 2007 our property was flooded, while clearing up I contracted a virus which left me hospitalized. Since that time I have never fully recovered, I have had a string of ill health. This year alone I have been hospitalized twice with pneumonia and had countless colds and flu.

Thus I can not support the plugin business as I would like to be able to, it is clear that a decrease in time inputted to the business leads to a fall off in sales.

It is also not fair on my customers who request support and I can not provide it when ill.

I have therefore taken the decision (under advice from Doctors) to cut down on the scope of work I do in my business and to concentrate on the core of my business which is developing Business Systems.

The sale of the plugin business will hopefully give me the chance to take some time off and recover while still maintaining an income from the core of my business.

If the price is right (see above) I am happy to include within the sale my other plugins:

However, they do not bring in anywhere near the value in sales as the Datafeed Plugin.
