Hey everyone, im new to internet marketing and i think i want to experiment with ppc marketing, but i'm completely new to google adwords and i have no idea how it works, can you just make an ad for a keyword and just have it link straight to an affiliate link when it's clicked or do i have to make my own landing page?
I would love a good guide about this stuff if you know any

      Hi tomer20072,

It really depends upon the circumstances of the affiliate offer. Many merchants do not want you to direct link, because they already do that themselves. Some merchants will not want you to use their brand name, or product name in the keywords you are targeting. If the merchant does allow direct links, only one AdWords account will be allowed to receive impressions for that website, so unless you are the only affiliate marketer using AdWords you may not be able to direct link successfully.

Additionally, many merchants that have affiliate programs do not have offer pages that comply with AdWords advertising policies. So that rules out a lot of possibilities.

You can create your own landing page, but you must follow AdWords policies, including no bridge pages, which is what many affiliate marketers try to get away with. You have to have an offer page, for whatever you are advertising, on your own website and not redirect or forward users to an offer page on a separate website.

In some cases, where the merchant permits, you can create your own offer page and use the merchants checkout page or the checkout page provided by a 3rd party affiliate platform. This is one way of avoiding the Bridge page policy issue.

Another way to avoid the bridge page policy issue is to create your own product offering, advertise your website with that product/service/info on AdWords and build a list which you can then use for email marketing campaigns to your affiliate offers.

          Hi tomer20072,

Yes, you could, as long as your landing page and website is in compliance with all AdWords policies and that you are offering something of value that corresponds with the message of your advertisement.

You still have to build a complete website if you want to get approved.

Just a landing page that collects user data won't do the job.

The "bridge" type of landing page, mentioned by dburk means a landing page that usually only has 1 goal - to redirect the users directly to the affiliate offer.

          Cheers

You definitely need a landing page for two main reasons:

    1. In most of the cases you cannot directly link to an affiliate offer.
    2. Building your list is indeed very important (in the long-run).

    Landing/Squeeze page is a must.

Moving ahead, I'd not recommend adwords for two main reasons (again):

    1. It is very costly.
    2. Not newbie friendly.

And Google does not like squeeze pages therefore your quality score will not improve resulting in poor CTR.

    Instead I'd recommend FB ads.

    1. FB is very cheap.
    2. Extremely newbie-friendly.

    All the best.

You need to be good with adword in order to send targeted and relevant traffic to your site.

There are lots of tutorials online on how to run a successful campaign on adword for free.

Next, ensure your website have an opt in where visitors can sign up with their emails in exchange for free information. In essence, build your list and follow up. It looks quite simple but no trick works better for affiliate marketing than this...
