Hi guys! I am starting my first ppc campaign promoting a weightloss cpa offer on bing.

I am a little confused about which is the best strategy to follow.

I have built a nice lp with an email opt in. The lp is for selling the product (no personal review or informational article).

I have two ideas:

The firstone is to find broad relate kw and write very specific ads like "buy product xxx" or "product x sale". This way i will have hundreds or thousend of low searched broad kw but with a very specific text ad. That means very cheap click and only for people that are willing to buy or pay for this product.

The other option is to choose more targeted buy kw like "buy product xxx" or "where to buy xxx online". In this case i will pay more for each click, but will have more volume, more targeted clicks and better ads score and ctr.

So, which one do you thnk is a better idea, taking in account that i have a relative small busget (1k)?

Thanks!

I think the specific keyword is better because less pay but more profit.

IMO you should do both as long as you have the time to maintain all the keywords and filter through what is creating a conversion and what is not.

When it comes to PPC its all about testing.

Just because you think "Buy product xxx" would be a great keyword doesn't mean you'll actually be able to profit from that keyword. So my question to you would be have you set up conversion metrics to track what keyword supplied you with your opt in / sale?

Lol. If you are a newbie, go into weightloss in Bing will cost you alot of money.

You are competing with guys like me who are using super advanced techniques like,
    1. Placing 2-3 ads of the same keywords on the same page.
    2. Doing day-parting to optimize ROI and cut losses.
    3. Optimizing quality score to at least 10. (10 is the max anyway)

What is your chances against us?

My advice to you is go with smaller weight loss niches like
    -How to burn belly fats
-How to lose weight before my wedding
    -How to remove cellulite

More keywords doesn't work if you are using only one ad copy or a few (say 2-3) to hundreds of keywords.
We are targeting one keyword per ad copy. (Hence that justify 10/10 quality score)

Here is some proof that it works.

OK let me throw my 2 cents into this in an attempt to give you some guidance in terms of PPC strategy:

The trick to finding converting keywords - or golden nuggets as I'd like to call them - is to use the shotgun approach. Bid on as many relevant keywords you can, throw some money at it and see what converts. You will most likely lose some money or break even. But this is normal.

Once you have that data of converting and non-converting keywords, you ONLY focus on the converting keywords and pause the rest. Then you finetune, adjust the bids and split-test your ads further to maximize ROI.

But I always use the shotgun approach and sacrifice short-term ROI for long term profits, as you always tend to find profitable keywords that way. It is however only after the data gathering and tweaking/adjusting your campaign that the profits tend to come in. So always focus on the long term ROI and don't be afraid to think big with a large set of keywords.

    Hey guys thanks for answering.

Regarding the competition in the niche, I am targeting a "sub-niche" that is a lot cheaper that pure "weight loss" KW.

I am thinkgin like this: QS doesnt really matters if a bid for KW that dont have any competition. I can have a low QS and bid onl 0.05 but if I am the only one bidding for that KW my add should be shown right?

A poor quality score doesn't only push your cpc up, but also reduce the frequency of that your ads will appear.

  • Quality not quantity.

It was mentioned that more specific is better and that is true. You don't use "lawyer" but "personal injury lawyer" or whatever it is you do. Same for products.

There's always exceptions of course. You mention this is weight loss related. I never did such a campaign but I suspect that you will do better with the actual product name keywords than being more generic with "how to lose weight" keywords.

Weight loss is the last thing I would do if I were doing affiliate marketing.

Shot gun approach is not the right approach as Nick suggests. Especially if you are new at this or, again, starting with weight loss. Think specific and stay away from generic. Example: I have a client that sells lamps among other things. I don't bid on "lamps" nor even on "table lamps" or "floor lamps". He has however "bamboo table lamps" and "bowling pin lamps". I don't bid on "how to brighten up room" types of keywords which is generic. You need to think the same way to have success.

    >> QS doesnt really matters if a bid for KW that dont have any competition.

There's really no such thing as no competition. There's always some because there's a few million advertisers out there and chances are some are promoting the same or similar thing.

And your QS also can prevent the frequency your ads appear, competition or not.

Targeted is the key to ppc my friend. More chances to convert with less money.
target the s ** t out of your campaigns

I used to go broad and burned lots of money until learnt my lesson.
