Which is the best if the cost is same for both Click/Lead?

What would be your choice?

I would prefer Lead because I can keep in touch with them anytime

Varies from niche to niche, and source to source.

Since, I'm good at Adwords, I dont mind working with Pay per click method, since i can optimize and reduce the cost by tweaking the site and campaign.

Your thought is same as mine.

How would you suggest to make the best out of PPL?

      Hi Idol,

How can one say pay per lead is better than pay per click? Neither a lead nor a click is money in your pocket. It is just one step on a marketing journey. Even if a lead cost the same as a click, it doesn't mean that the click was less valuable. It doesn't mean anything until you gather enough data to determine the value per click and compare that to the value per lead.

It is certainly possible that low quality leads may be less valuable than high quality clicks, so in some cases a click will have more value on average than a source of low value leads. To prejudge either one, without data is the hallmark of a novice marketer.

An experienced marketer knows that you need to use real data to measure the value of a lead, or a click. To choose one over the other without any real data is just baseless guessing and not real marketing. Experienced marketers know better than to let preconceived notions cloud their judgement. Why guess when you have data?

Let me ask the question this way, which would you prefer a click that has an average value per click of $4, or a lead that has an average value per lead of $0.55, assuming they both cost the same? Do you see how knowing the value makes all the difference?

We see lots of mistakes here on this forum by folks that make the assumption that all clicks have the exact same value, they usually make the mistake of seeking the cheapest most worthless clicks they can find, usually from some shister selling fake bot traffic or similar. Cost is not the same thing as value, your goal is to find traffic that is more valuable than the cost, and each source has it's own unique average value.

In fact, in PPC advertising, every keyword has it's own unique value per click, and even within the same data set you will find unique values based on geographic locations, device type, time of day, and other factors. You can adjust your bids for each of those lead sources and factors, in near real-time, to make sure that you are always paying less than the value per click, which is something you generally cannot do in pay per lead programs. Perhaps this is why Pay-per-click is most commonly used by experienced marketers with thriving businesses, and pay-per-lead is most commonly used by new and unsophisticated marketers that are just learning the ropes?

  • On certain ad networks like FB then Pay Per Lead has always proven to be up to 5 times cheaper per lead. (It lets facebook use they data to get you more conversion easier)

PPL is usually better for me. However PPC is very effective too.

    Testing I say.

Dburk, agreed. Pay per sale is the best

    Oh.... that is it!
I thought someone is providing this kind of services.
    Thank you dburk,

I never heard of Pay Per Sale network.
Why don't put up some info here for everyone's benefit.

Why I say pay per lead is better than pay per click in why because I never see much benefit from pay per click campaign.
But when I'm in pay per lead, if I get at least one conversion per one thousand email sent, is also making my effort useful. In pay per click it is not possible in most of my case.
The audience in both case could be same.

PPL is better than PPC if the cost is same as in a PPL the advertiser only pays for leads generated. No payment is made for visitors who don’t sign up however in PPC, you've to pay for every click whether it converts or not.

    Hello guys!

    I must agree with aars14
Varies from niche to niche, and source to source.
I've seen and experience this in my many years in this market.

I do realize this is an older post, Idol mention pps and asked to name a few.

    Clickbank
    clickbooth
list goes on... Most affiliate network.

The offer must meet networks guidelines and some may ask to show history metrics of your offer.

    Good luck!

    Hi all,

From my experience PPC tends to be more reliable than PPL. Of course it is different for each scenario, but from what I've see is that PPL vendors sometimes recycle their leads and often provide duplicate leads.

These vendors have huge lists of leads and I've seen VERY VERY unqualified leads being sold. Our client even purchased a platform that is dedicated to verifying PPL leads because they don't trust all of the leads coming through.

That being said, both have pros and cons, but from my experience PPC tends to be more reliable if done correctly.

    Hope this helps!
