What does a "good" landing page look like?

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to launch a PPC campaign to help our company to generate leads for an IT Security SaaS solution. It's been years since I've done anything with adwords. How do I go about creating an effective page? Are there some guidelines I need to follow or proven converters? Thanks.

Steve

Instapage.com makes great landing pages. If you buy the subscription, you can upload a copy of any URL that you want and change the content/pictures/format on that page as well. I have made a few very successful landing pages by looking at some of the top paid results on google in the specified vertical. Then I check their spend on spyfu.com. If they are in the 5-6 figures/month range on their spend, then I know it must be converting well. Upload a copy of that page, with the URL import tool, change content and add my own disclaimer. Sit back and watch the revenue roll in. Inbox me and I will show you some specific examples.

I would just start by searching in search engines for people in the Same niche and see what they are doing, this will give you a general idea on what is working.

Just like Chris said, research your top competitors sites so you can see which are good LP's for your niche. After that just make similar or just tweak those ones.

Find out exactly who your audience is and build a LP based around them.

I suggest you build a landing page for your audience, not around your audience.

The landing page is a bridge to conversions, not the moat around them.

I realize this might seem dumb, but most people screw this up. Generally, you are not the audience, or are not representative of the audience as a whole, so you're going to end up digging a trench if you don't think about this the right way.

But hopefully, somebody reading this will realize that their landing pages are built for themselves, based upon assumptions of their audience, but the page is not for the audience. The only fair assumption you can make is that if the visitor is on your landing page, to a certain extent, they're already sold, and the job of the page they are currently on, is to get them to where they want to go.

A good landing page should have your business goal in mind. So if you want to generate leads have a form on the page and a button to the contact us page.

Your website content is also really important so make it informational, but don't leave the reader thinking "so what" - use lines like " contact us today for help with.." to prompt readers

Once check the competitor landing pages so it helps to get an idea for you how to make a landing page.Generally landing page includes the entire information about the services provided by the company.

Well, a "Good" landing page to one customer might not be good for another. There are different 4 personality traits that we, as people, have. Some people like lots of content, others like more pictures and videos. ChrisBa from a comment above mine said to search what other sites in your niche are doing which is a great idea. I would take two or three of your co-workers or friends and go through like 5-10 sites and pick out what each likes and doesn't like. Then go from there in creating a great landing page.

I actually did that when I created my landing page for my car shipping website. I tried to hit as many of the personality types that I could.

As few members already told you the best way to see what really works is to check other high ranked competitors and try to get new ideas from there.

      Also keep on mind this;
      - be careful not to overload your landing page
      - relevant and original content
      - dont forget (CTA) call to action button
      - too many distractions on the page (from essential content)

When you find someone site /from competitor in same nich try to observ that site not only as potencial buyer.. try to see how did they construct it. What did they do to keep you on that side. From there you can have the framework for your site.

      Hope that helps,

      Marko.

Landing page also have to be responsive, device friendly.
Now, a big number of people are using mobile to access internet.
