Adwords Video Campaign - Keywords don't work?

Does anyone have any experience with video campaigns with Adwords?

No matter what I do, I can't seem to get views on Youtube for my people typing in my keywords.

e.g. here are some examples of my keywords "+wedding +band +hire, "wedding band london", [wedding bands uk]

I use broad, phrase and exact match, but for some reason when I look at what's triggering my video ads, people can type in things like "the beatles penny lane" or "coldplay"

So the targeting is way off and as a result, no website clicks.

Any suggestions? I've tried selecting and deselecting different demographics such as age, gender and interests. Nothing seems to work...

  • A little advice....Go to youtube advertising and start your campaigns base on video targeting. Select those videos which you feel are most viewed by your targeted audience and start from there.
  • You may want to look at the video you target to show your ads on.

There are ways to choose certain videos to show pre-roll ads on.

There are manual solutions that require you to exchange your time to build a list of related content to run your ads on.

Gideon Shalwick spoke at length at last weekend's T&C2015 Australia about how he targeted a variety of videos. One of his tools that he developed is Veeroll.
