"These May Help You If New To The Pay Per Click Game"

I see a lot of business owners and entrepreneurs here are brand new to pay per click marketing or maybe a little confused of where to go so...

Thought this may be a good little 101 or good time to give some quick nuggets so you know the basics or differences between 3 places you can choose to do your pay per click with like bing, google and facebook...and some other quick tips to get started...

Pay Per Click Marketing

There's 3 main mediums or places we should test on the pay per click side.

One place to test is Google:

The positive side to google is the fact that using pay per click marketing on google means we can achieve extremely fast traffic because of the massive audience and traffic searching google daily.

The negative side to pay per click advertising on google is that the costs are higher for a person to click on your ad compared to other places or mediums.

The second place to test online is Bing:

The positive side to using bing is the fact that the clicks are much cheaper versus google.

The negative side to using bing is that the traffic volume is lower.

Can still achieve daily clicks, but the overall traffic or clicks received from bing will be fractions of what is available to you on google.

Plus, quality is way down compared to used to be with bing since merged with yahoo. Basically, you show bing, you also show on yahoo.

The third place to test is Facebook:

By using Facebook, the pay per click cost is way lower than with google and even lower than bing advertising.

The positive side to using facebook pay per click marketing is that we can literally go after the perfect targeted prospect.

With Facebook, we can make sure your ad shows to all states or certain areas. We can only show our ad to a certain age group, income level and even be as specific as only targeting people with certain ages, income levels, hobbies and or interests.

Basically, if we find that maybe a family of 4 that makes x amount of money and lives in the Midwest, reads x and etc is a successful prospect... we can even set it up so our ad only shows to that perfect person with Facebook.

The negative sides to using Facebook...

People on Facebook are usually there for Facebook. Simply meaning that insurance isn't why their on Facebook, so they're not specifically searching for insurance or certain products like with google or bing.

I refer to it as "interruption marketing" because we need to interrupt their trance or goofing around on Facebook and make them click our ad or take action.

The key point to remember is that clicks doesn't make you any money. The clicks cost you money.

We make the money when that person clicks and takes the action we want them to do.

That's why I suggest starting out with small budgets on 1 medium at first, then 2 or 3 mediums...then roll out to more mediums and increase pay per click campaign budget.

The 1st month will really be all about testing.

Testing keywords we go after.

Like " this keyword" may be an expensive keyword to target and not working for us, but us using the keyword "how about this kewyord" may be more affordable per click and be a keyword that pulls more sales per click.

One ad or keyword may get more clicks than another, but the one with less clicks may result in more leads or sales.

There's literally hundreds if not thousands of keywords in every niche so would start out with smaller groups of keywords and expand from there.

We also need to test the times ads shown, where the ad is shown and so much more.

Lastly, we would be testing the main page where the people are arriving after clicking our ad.

The website or lead generation page (which we could use designers for if choose or software).

We want that click to turn into a lead and or a sale.

Just an ending note:

This is just one way of generating leads online. There's a lot of ideas we can discuss for generating results online and offline, but...

The pay per click marketing side is one of the fastest ways and one of the best ways to test and generate traffic online.

Also...

Remember the key is to be as targeted as possible with your marketing, sales and ppc systems.

The key point in this post (As I see it) is TESTING.

    Test everything everywhere!

Give chance to every set of keywords/ads/targeting. You never know where you can find cheap conversions. Best thing here is that you will get test results fast and accurate. If (and you should) you set Google Analytics (or some other tool) properly, you will get a lot of information that can be used for new tests and optimization.

    A great write up.

We are doing well on BING, but I had a rather long conversation with them today.

They are really going down the plug hole, every since they merged. No joke! Even if you select not to show on contexual sites, and view sites, they will still put your ad on there.

Yes! A disgrace. Maybe its time for us to move away from BING for this. Basically over the last month we were doing well, and the last few days basically 80% of our ads, where untargeted, and very very low quality.

BING is about to shoot themselves in the foot here. Trust me on that!!

I agree with OP BING traffic quality over the last few weeks, especially since the merge, is just getting worse and worse. Oh dear!

    Just a warning.

Yup Celente... Bing really used to be killer on quality and more serious prospects versus google before the merging and before facebook came into play. Now the top from personal and client experience would be facebook, google and then bing or others.

Bing can still work and make money all day long, but need to do a different strategy and definitely not what most people on here talk about doing with bing.

And max 3 T's can make it profitable..target marketing, testing and timing.

      +1

finally someone who gets it. Bing is not the BING it use to be, but you sure can make money. I find the traffic there is not as good these days. I have started using more of facebook these days, with surprising results as you can target right down to the letter, and the custom audience targeting, and retargeting is pure killer.

      great stuff.
