Does Google penalize PPC ads in the Make Money niche?

Are you running Google PPC ads in the Make Money Online niche? If so, are you finding that Google penalizes you for this niche?

I understand that Google frowns upon sending ad visitors directly to an opt-in page. I also have been told that Google is not fond of Make Money style landing pages.

So, does that mean that your CPC goes up if you are running ads in the MMO niche?

Do you have to be careful with the wording of your ads and not, actually, mention the phrase 'make money online'?

I'm planning on running some ads for this niche and don't want to make an expensive mistake even before I've really started testing keywords and phrases!

Thanks in advance for all the advice you can offer.

    Hi MisterY,

Google does not penalize Ads or advertisers, they do however have a Quality Score system that ranks poor performing ads lower than great performing ads, even when they have the same bids.

Here's a video that explains more about AdWords Quality Scores.

Within Google's AdWords program for advertisers they will disapprove ads or websites within the "Make Money Online" niche for violations of AdWords policies just like they do in every other niche and for the exact same reasons they do it in every other niche.

For Advertisers that follow all of AdWords policies there is no need to be concerned about penalties, disapproval, or suspensions. AdWords welcomes advertisers in the Make Money Online Niche with open arms. Just check Search result pages and you will see many advertisers running successful campaigns with no penalties applied.

I suggest you stop listening to people that know so little about Google and their policies and start listening to what Google actually says and does.

dburk, thank you for your insight.

So all is not lost, then?

I was thinking of using the special template from Leadpages which has been specifically designed for Google PPC. I'll try a small test with that first.

Wow, this is pretty dangerous. It depends on what exactly your 'make money niche' is.

If yours is teaching people how to incorporate a legitimate company, grow a business and sales e.t.c. you're generally safe and can go ahead with it.

However, if you want to teach people who to make affiliate sales, make money sitting on the couch, I'm not sure if Google will go to the extent of banning your account for your case, but yes, I know for sure Google has banned accounts which marketed such products/services before. So be warned...

If you know someone that was actually banned, it wasn't for advertising products or services in the make money online niche, it would have been from an egregious violation of AdWords policy. As I stated in my previous post, Google has no issue with the niche, just follow their advertiser policies and you'll be fine.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people in the "make money online" niche that insist on making unrealistic and unsubstantiated claims and that one policy tends to weed out a lot of bad actors from the AdWords program.

Yeah... and 99.9% of the make money online always make such claims anyway, and even though often times it is possible to 'make 10k/month in just 6 months from now' or 'lose 28 pounds in 6 months', Google's idea of 'reasonable' is completely subjective. It may be possible but if they don't like it that's it, the account is out and Google doesn't have to give any explanation other than saying the person violated their TOS.

          Hi alvinchua91,

Google always provides an email that includes which policy category that was violated along with a link to that policy page. They also give you an opportunity to correct the violations and a link that explains how to request a review once you have fixed it, except for violations that they considered especially egregious. If you do something that is consider highly egregious they do not offer you a second chance to commit another such violation.

Yes, Google penalized for advertising too many links. so better aware of your posting and advertsiting. Dont overkill or overuse your ads.
