Every time I put a bid according to the keyword tool, say 50c, the cpc shoots up to $5-$15.

This happens ALL the time, and when I contact Bing support, they're very coy about it, saying I changed ad copy which i didn't - not that this should affect bids that much, or saying that "its just a guide".

I'm starting to think they purposely bump up required cpc after a campaign has started. My QS is always 9 or 10/10.

Something is REALLY fishy with them, I can never get decent amount of clicks without skyrocketing my bids to the moon.

Bing ads is most certainly not a scam. The keyword tool shows historical data, not real-time data. As Bing told you it is only a guide. There are many factors that can make a keyword bid much higher (or even lower) than what you see in that tool. There is also the possibility that a competitor is set to kill all competition by bidding higher than anyone would reasonably want to.

      hey there

no its not a scam but there are so many factors to consider when bing figures out the bid etc.

A first I reacted the same way when I started with bing, I was bidding 40c then my bid was like $2 I was like "what the hell?"

Then as I got better and manage my campaigns more etc I found that there is a lot of testing and tweaking that needs to be done.

Bing ads aren't a scam. They are similar to google ads.

You have separate bid for Search, separate Bid for Content and then you have a separate bid for each keyword. If you set "search" bid at 10c but have "keyword" bids set at $5 your keyword bids are what you pay. So just check this out. Maybe this is the reason?
