I started a little experiment with 50$ a few days back.
I picked 5 products from clickbank that solve a health problem.
I bought targeted ads from Bing and added keywords such as "how to cure X". I got a total of 230 clicks, 7.5k impressions, ctr 3.6%, and avg cpc 0.26 in two days. I didn't use a landing page, direct linking to aff site.

My plan was to see what products start selling and further optimize them but i got ZERO conversions, im just lost.
Are these stats normal and how do you guys pull it off?

    Hey there,

Did these five products ACTUALLY solve the problem or just give "hype"? Oh wait did you actually test and evaluate what you are trying to sell? Remember customer value is very important.

Good job for doing a test run with direct linking...but if you really don't want to waste money and effort, then definitely transition into a lander for sure!!

How can one get or buy targeted ads from bing? Can you explain what he meant by buying targeted ads @shaunybb @warsu

I feel you friend. Maybe you should not give up that soon. I know health products sell more often and therefore maybe you did not promote your products well or well enough. Just hang around for sometime but if it fails, dont hesitate to switch to another niche. But do your research well. All the best

Where the 5 products chosen the highest gravity for that niche?

Where they all in the same niche, or 5 different health-related issues?

230 clicks is a decent sample size to send to one product, but 230 clicks over 5 different products is not enough to make any definitive conclusions.

Gregg, that's a great reply. Can you tell us more about your experience? It would be very helpful if you did.

Do some research and focus on a single product.

    I didn't use a landing page
Few people buy on first contact. You have to opt-in prospects and follow up to make consistent sales. Direct linking may produce an occasional sale but the fortune is in the follow-up.

I agree with Brent Stangel. You should focus on a single product first. After you succeed you can try new products. If you get 5 different products and 230 clicks it means that on average you got 46 clicks for each product and that is not enough to test a new product.

Odds are you helped build 5 CB vendor email list considering most CB vendor sales pages are built to capture leads before a sale (email optin forms above the fold on the CB sales pages). Then again it could be a crappy converting CB sales page If traffic didn't get hooked on the email optins.

In other words, as long as the Bing traffic was targeted Bing probably wasn't the problem.

Build your own sales page & split test ad copy, forget the vendor sales page. Assumes you know how to sell without making false claims to traffic.

I would recommend you to learn some courses on Udemy.com first prior to doing Bing Ads. I have been applying methods learnt from Udemy and successfully drove more than 7k traffic daily that converts up to $5k per month on one of my affiliate site.

Great SmartTim, Good know you have been successful with Udemy course, I am following the same path, I hope to share my experience soon.

Just a quick one, Is bing ads direct linking working for you? I want to try it as well, currently their minimum deposit is usd 200.

To the OP, you should not have tried to spread out $50 over 5 products. That is a small amount of money for PPC and you should have focused on one product with that budget. Also, direct linking is going to greatly lower your conversion rate.

So, direct linking and spending, on average, $10 in advertising per product is not likely to produce results. Even if you had gotten a random conversion, you would still have no worhtwhile data to work with to optimize and scale when investing more money.

First research and personally examine the products you are promoting and find out which one or two, if any, are the highest quality. Also examine the sales page and the entire buying process to see if you really want to promote them. Then make your own landing pages specific to the products and specific to your audience and customize your advertising to those.

You will need to be willing to spend (and potentially lose) some money in testing. Statistically, the majority of campaigns are not winners. And the majority of winning campaigns do not start off in profit. It takes time and money and optimization in most cases. Capturing leads is ideal, but even if you choose not to do that or want to test offers first, you need to do what I wrote in the previous paragraph

If you wanted to stick to direct linking then you will need to spend a lot more money to get any significant data to work with. This will mean losing more money up front to decide if a product was worth promoting. If you were only willing to spend $10 on testing each of these products, then I'm assuming you don't have a lot of money to throw at testing.

    Thanks for the responses.
Im going to use the bing coupon next with a decent landing page, and i'm going to do my homework on customer value. Do you prefer a landing page that promotes multiple products or a single one?

You should definitely use a landing page for PPC, you need to pre-sell the customer before taking them straight to the offer, that was your problem.
Also, you should focus on 1 or 2 products, and try to optimize and scale your campaign.

    Good Luck,
    Leonardo.
