Why are you bidding for useless keywords if they are irrelevant to your campaign?

You are bidding on so many keywords that are not used in your ads.

Hence, you are getting clicks from the people who are not interested in your product.

    Try to follow these steps.
    1. Remove redundant keywords (stick to 20-30 per ad group)
    2. Write a more targeted ads relevant to your keywords
    3. Collect email list of your audience so you can sell other items to them.

Not you think that visitors are fool enough to search for cheap puppies and click on "Invisible dog fence guide"

You can use long tail keyword to improve your results to get a more specfic visitors. For example, you can put in the dog breed.

You are bidding on Broad match.

Broad match shows your ads for a lot of unrelated keywords because it can show your ad even if it doesn't contain the keyword that you bid on. Id re-consider bidding on Broad match because it lowers your CTR as well as showing your ads for irrelevant searches.

Why are you bidding on the keyword 'where to buy a dog'. Surely people who want to buy dog fencing already have a dog.

A better idea would be to bid on the name of the product itself then you'll get targeted traffic from people who are specifically searching for the dog fence that you are selling.

  • Solar Warrior is right. You are bidding on keywords that have nothing to do with your offer. Why are you bidding on "free puppy" for example? What has that got to do with a dog fence?

You say you are getting clicks from garbage keywords. Well, you are the one using those keywords. Worse, you took the opinion of a service suggesting those keywords and agreed to use them without thinking if you should in the first place. A keyword tool can be good but you still have to use logic in whether or not that suggestion is a good one. Computer aided tools are there to help you do things faster but you should never let them make all the decisions.

    >> Not you think that visitors are fool enough to search for cheap puppies and click on "Invisible dog fence guide"

Yes. They'll click on pretty much anything that appears for a variety of reasons, even if your ad specifically mentions something totally not related to what they searched. So don't give them that chance.

The best traffic comes from a search that is exactly what you are offering. Since you are now offering "cheap puppies", don't bid on that keyword.

A lot of advertisers, especially new ones, think it's best to get all the traffic they can from any keyword that is even remotely related. That's what you are doing but that is the wrong approach. I've even had discussions with clients such as "I was getting more clicks before" but with more focused keywords, they were getting the same or more sales and at a lesser cost. Don't fall into the trap to cover every possible angle. Few cheap puppies searchers will buy your dog fence. Concentrate on those looking for that fence.

    Your keywords should be:

    dog fence
    invisible dog fence
    electronic dog fence
    underground dog fence

See the pattern? You are selling a dog fence so your keywords will all revolve around that. Variations will include synonyms such as canine/puppy and barrier/enclosure. Note that you'll want to be careful for shorter tails such as "dog fence" or "dog enclosure" as they may be thinking a physical enclosure. You'll likely do less well with those but surely better than cheap puppies.

Please take all the results you get from so-called keyword research tools with a pinch of salt. It doesn't mean that you have to use all the keywords returned to you by keyword tools.

    Stick close to keywords like:
    • wireless dog fence
    • electric dog fence
    • in-ground dog fence
    • invisible dog fence
    • under ground dog fence
Which are keywords that match the content of your website.

    BTW a couple of questions:

What am I meant to do on your website? After I have read all that content, there is not call to action, what is the nest step for visitors to take on your website?

What does "Containment Made Easy" mean?
    Good luck peekay
