Adwords Conversion & Analytics Goal Issues

Ok, so essentially we are having an issue with tracking conversions on Adwords using imported goals set up in Analytics which basically aren't working and both myself and developer are unsure as to what we are doing wrong in the setup. Background story is as follows;

We work with a Software Company who have built a bespoke software solution for us and thus integrated it with a custom booking form on our front end website. With this, we want to be able to integrate this booking form with Analytics and Adwords in order to track goals, and more importantly, conversions.

We need to be able to track conversions in Adwords i.e. which Keywords & Ads are customers searching or clicking into, who then go on to book a tour with us. Currently these conversions are not being tracked, which makes it really difficult then for us to analyse and make changes as we don't know which are resulting in the most/least conversions.

On Analytics, our goals don't seem to be working. The more important goals we need to get working are; 1) the no. of hits the 2nd page of the booking form is getting and 2) the no. of times a Paypal or Stripe payment has been made as a deposit and how much of a deposit was paid (amounts of deposits are dynamic and not fixed) - also we need to use Paypals IPN as the event for a hit whereas with payment on Stripe it can be done as a pageview.

We employed a marketing expert company in these areas who we thought would provide us with the solutions but what they provided us didn't work, so we want to try and understand and solve this problem ourselves with the help from you guys. We have imported the goals from Analytics to Adwords to be used for conversion tracking, so we believe currently the issue lies in our Analytics issue.

The following links to word documents of screenshots of how both goals are setup in Analytics, the code snippets used on the booking form pages and the setup on Adwords conversions.

If anyone can help we would greatly appreciate it. We've had this issue for near 2 months now.

Thanks,
Richard.

Try asking Google themselves in the Live Chat or Call them.

If it still does not work than don't use imported goals. Use the tracking code from Adwords itself to track conversions.

    Hi Richard,

From the sound of it you have a Google Analytics tag implementation issue.

Google has a Chrome browser extension tool that you can use to verify that you Google Analytics tag is implemented correctly, and diagnose any issues you have. It'c called Tag Assistant (by Google).

That simple extension has helped me diagnose numerous tag implementation issues over the years. Give it a try and let me know what it is telling you, I'll try to help you through the issue.

By the way, your screenshot links are not working.

The first thing I need to know is are you using GA with or without Google Tag Manager. I prefer GTM since you can control everything from the GTM console, making it simple fo handle AdWords tracking.

If you're going to rely on AdWords Conversion tracking, make sure it's sitting on the final confirmation page and no other.

Since the screenshots don't work, I can't comment on that.

You should setup your goals to use "equals" url IF you don't have any dynamic parameters. However, it sounds like you may be capturing price and destination in the url which makes it non unique. In that case, you should set the condition to begins with. As long as that part of the url is the same for every transaction, it will track properly.
