Been doing FB ads for a while now with some success but now really diving into the stats and notice I had 436 website clicks. I assumed that was people that clicked on my add and went to my site.

but the last column shows button clicks which was only 6 (which makes more since with my site analytics)

so what the heck does the website clicks mean?? they did not go to my website

    Hi, rjd1265

You assumed correctly - website clicks are clicks that went to your site. Do I understand you correctly that your Analytics tool shows much less visits?

Button clicks are the number of clicks on the call to action button your ad receives. They are often much less than website clicks as people often click on the image or other parts of the ad.

    Yes,
My analytics show much less, about 25% less or what FB reports. for example FB says I had 436 clicks to my website but my stats show only about 100 from Facebook

      Hi rjd1265,

Facebook, counts any and all interactions with ads as clicks. So if someone Expands a description, Clicks to read comments, Likes a post, Comments, Shares, or Likes a page. Facebook will count all of those interactions as clicks.

Website clicks are suppose to be clicks to your website, however if your campaign is attached to a Facebook page they will usually count those as at least 2 website clicks. So you really cannot rely on any of the data Facebook provides, there is no way to know what it specifically includes.

Install Google Analytics on your website and use that as your true website traffic metric. Use your Facebook stats as a relative measure, to compare the relative difference between campaigns, not an actual true metric. Remember "Google is your friend", Facebook is your co-opted family and friends network .

to be honest, i am figuring that out. I have a similar ad set that is getting $0.65 a click....and i had page post that cost me like $0.99-$1.50 a click.

This ad set targets US, Canada, South Africa and Australia ages 25-55. no other settings, just general.

FB reports are not 100% correct. In fact, a lot of the times the can be way off!

Button clicks are clicks to your CTA that you have set in your ad.
