Will Google have a problem with this kind of landing page?

I want to get into PPC but I am confused about what kind of landing page I need. I want to give away a free ebook in exchange for their name and email. I looked at ads in google and only found one example of such a landing page. Here's what it looks like:

Is there anything wrong with that landing page? Should I have one like that? I thought Google didn't like squeeze pages like that. I thought Google wanted to see lots of words, and links to other articles on your website? Is this an example of a bad squeeze page in Google eyes? Will they have a problem with me using a squeeze page like that? Will they make me pay more for my keywords for using a simple squeeze page like that?

I always thought you had to have the squeeze part on top then below you needed content. Almost blog style.
I know someone will answer this better than I can but I hope this points you in the right direction.....

    Hi ncloud,

You might have issues with your landing page meeting AdWords policies for Transparancy and trustworthiness.

    Transparency and trustworthiness
    • Make it easy for visitors to find your contact information.
    • If you request personal information from customers, then make it clear why you're asking for it and what you'll do with it.
    • Distinguish sponsored links, like ads, from the rest of your site content.
    • Openly share information about your business and clearly state what your business does.

The policies I made red above are problematic on your landing page.
    1. Your contact information is not easily found on your landing page.
    2. You do not indicated why you are asking for contact information, nor what you intend to do with it.
    3. You provide no clear indication of your business model, how your business operates, or how you make money.

I suggest you fix those policy violations before attempting to run ads pointing at this landing page.

That's not actually my landing page, it's just the only example I found where they were exchanging a book for name and email address. But, thanks for the advice.

So it sounds like I would also need a link to my contact page as well as to inform them of what all they're getting when the sign up. In addition to the free book they will get informational content and some affiliate promotions. Seems like that would reduce the amount of sign ups I'd get if I tell them I'm going to give them affiliate promotions.

  • That is not a squeeze page in my view. So you should not be concerned about the squeeze page rule.

The one thing I did not like is that you have another page open to get the email for downloading the book. Why not simply put the two text box on the first page? This way, just click to start the download, once I give my name and email of course. To me, it's just an extra click that is not needed. Also, make it clear exactly what I get in return.

I don't personally have a problem with transparency: you have your email (or whoever the page belongs to) if I wish to contact you, although it's small and at the bottom so not very visible. As for trustworthiness, you could have a blog and articles that I could read so that I can see that you're an expert in this field. I know, not easy and time consuming and I'm guilty of not doing much of this myself.
