What are some of the most effective FREE stratagys you use to drive traffic to your website?
And
What do you do to make them successful?

And what are some of the worst stratagys you have used?
And why do you think they didn't work?

    Free:
    1. SEO (takes a long amount of time but depending on your niche and competitors you can achieve really good results)
    2. Article writing (ask other people in your niche if you can write a guest article for their blog/website)
    3. Social Media (if you post really good content you can get more and more users over time).

    So far I didn't have any "worst" strategy so far, in my opinion there aren't any "bad" traffic sources, just not suitable ones for certain goals. But in general, buying traffic on sites like Fiverr etc. is normally a bad idea.

    One of the must useful lessons I've learned in marketing is that nothing of value is free. It's is going to cost you time, money, or both.

    Forget about what is free and focus on what is profitable. If something is profitable it is way better than free. Profitable activities pay you which is better than free, wouldn't you agree?

    the only best traffic source is GUEST BLOGGING when you do it well, every other traffic follows
    When you look for influencers that have similar site to yours, you reach out to them and create an epic post for them, mustnt be articles; (you can do videos, podcast, images, infograhics, ebooks, then when they publish it on their site, you get a backlink ( building SEO traffic), they share it on social media ( you get SOCIAL SHARES and your contents go viral)
    guest bloging must not be limited to only blogs but on other sites like FORUMS, FILE SHARING SITES, MAGAZINE SITES.
    Forget SEO traffic, the people who rank on SEO are people with no SEO knowledge.

        look for high influencers in your NICHE

          when doing this would I post the post on my own blog? Or would I send it to them via email or maybe some other form perhaps?

          obviously this form of traffic generation is new to me and any more information you can provide would be very helpful

  • The only free strategies that have ever worked for me are blogging and Facebook. With free strategies you have to have patience. It will take a while to build the skills and the following you need. I wouldn't bother with free direct advertising such as free classifieds. It is possible to get sales from things like that, but it's pretty rare and inconsistent from my experience.

    Post your websites on some other blogs for the same niche.
    Join to forums about that niche.
    Share your pages and post to facebook and other social media.
    Advertise for free on some website who give you that solution.

    Paid traffic:
    Learn how to send targeted traffic to your possible audience with facebook ads, twitter ads, google adwords,
    implement retargeting pixel, and send traffic again for the cheaper price.

    Use email marketing to connect with people, and send them news about your niche.

    More free ways:
    Great way is also creating youtube videos about your niche.

    If you have website, you can use SEO technique.

    Use email marketing.

    The chrome web store is a fantastic source of free traffic and yet many webmasters are not taking advantage of it. It is very easy to add your web site to the Chrome Store and the traffic you can get is free and continuous.     Utilizing SEO is so far a good way to get free website traffic, but the process is quite tedious. You can also use Facebook or other social networking sites to promote your website. Just make sure your website content is really good, engaging and valuable; that's the things that matter most to clients.

    Facebook has an option for you to post videos and picture where you can link your website to the post. You can do that for FREE.
    But also if you have a budget you can boost your post for a cost. It depends on your daily budget, but it will definitely generate traffic to your website.

    There are a lot of different techniques for free traffic

    The main difference with free vs paid traffic, however, is that free traffic requires (sometimes a lot) of your time.

    Paid traffic requires much less time and (usually) can get results faster.

    However, if your going for paid traffic, the ROI should be positive.

    For free traffic sources, some good options are.

    1. SEO
    2. Guest posting
    3. HARO (help a reporter out)
    4. Facebook groups/fan pages
    5. Blog commenting
    6. Reddit
    7. Stumbleupon

  • The most effective FREE strategy you use to drive traffic to your website?

    I have experience with this situation and this is my strategy:

    1. SEO, you can do On-Page strategy and Off-Page strategy. On-page strategy you can check with Frog SEO Spider (Free tools) and then you can optimize your keyword, image, etc in your website. Off-page strategy, you create backlink (the backlink is the link refer to your website) in guest blog, medium or something else.

    2. Social Media Marketing, you can share your website in Facebook fanpages, twitter or instagram. Easier if you used social media marketing tools like Buffer or Hootsuite, or you can try ombaQ (social media marketing tools and free)

    3. Email Marketing, you can search email list from business card or linkedin. You can use Gmass (if you used gmail) or may be mailchimp.

    You can do A/B Testing from each strategy.

    There's not such thing as free website traffic. Don't lose your time and money on SEO. You'll have to spend a ton of money and time to get nothing in exchange.

    If you want my opinion, if you have a good product, start marketing it through PPC (Facebook and Google Adwords) and you'll definitely get some customers to start with.

    we all know you need to have great content, do SEO and share on Social Media.
    But there other viable ways to get traffic.

    1) Find And Pull Method
    you need to find out about relevant posts on high traffic blogs in your niche. Read it and write out a relevant and helpful comment after the post but instead of linking your name to your blog’s homepage, link to your post on related content. You can find relevant content with the help of google alert.
    2) Link to other Bloggers In Your Posts
    Link to other bloggers in your post.Link out to others in your posts and they will take notice of you. Some of them will even link back to you.

    Find which of your pages are sitting on Google's second page and bump them on the top of SERP

    First, you're gonna need to identify which of your pages are ranking in this range of positions. There are two ways (that I could think of) to do it - the long manual one and the quick convenient one that requires a SEO tool.

    Manually:

    1) go to Google Webmaster Tools
    2) arrange your list of keywords by their Average Positions
    3) scroll down until you see from 11-ths positions to 20-ies
    4) run the ones you have identified with Keyword Planner to see their volume of searches (that is, if you still have this metric, of course) identify the optimal keyword for which we'll be further optimizing our pages for;

    Conviniently:

    1) Tools like Serpstat can breakdown your domain by pages and subdomains and show for which keywords and on which positions they are currently ranking for (http://savepic.org/8395068.png)
    2) Filter results to show "Domain position for a keyword" from 11 to 20 (http://savepic.org/8452415.png). The tool also shows Volume so that eliminates the need to check each keayord manually.

    Now further optimize these pages for keywords in this 11-20 gap using internal linking (with tsaid keywords as anchors), try to attain few more backlinks on them and push the form Google's 2nd into Google's 1st page.

    One of the worst Free sources is Traffic Exchanges. I used to own one even. The flawed system is that everyone is joining with the intent to sell. I.E. no one is signing up looking to buy. The TE Owners are the only ones who benefit and then not many of them...
    I would say some good free sources
    1. Article writing/Blogging (generates Google and other Organic Traffic)
    2. Social Media (Especially Pinterest)
    3. Click Banking (trading list members with other list owners. You can find Facebook groups doing this)
    4. Doing a joint venture give away special
    5. Youtube video reviews

    There are a lot of ways to get traffic to your website for free. I see most of them are already covered in this thread, but no one talked about Quora for example.
    I've heard about this great strategy a few months ago and started using it just recently (It showed really good results, a couple of hundred sessions a week) I've found a great article about it in this Web Marketing guide, 6th chapter. It's all well explained, it goes really deep into the strategy and explains everything step by step.

    In short, the thing about quora is that you have to build a good profile in a specific niche. After that just look for the questions that are related to your industry and provide an informative answer, so other people upvote it.

    Free methods such as: Doing SEO, Social Media Content sharing, Youtube Sharing, Facebook Content, G+, Pinterest,…and many other channels that give you free using and promotions

    Paid methods such as: Doing SEM such as Google adwords, GDN, Solo ads, Facebook ads, banner ads,…

    So it depend on your budgets that you will choose which methods that can give you the best effort, or you need to combine between free & paid methods in order to get the effective results

    one free method that I saw a post about recently and may be considered common knowledge is launchjacking. Where you look on muncheye, jvzoo, or warriorplus, for products launching and ask for a review copy then make blog posts and youtube videos about that product. Informational more than selling. This free method can get you lots of extra cash...
