With so many choices like Google Adwords, Bing Ads, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn PPC, etc. How do you decide which PPC solution would match your specific niche? How are you able to choose low cost keywords that actually convert into paying customers?

    Hi DURABLEOILCOM,

The best way as always is to test. Let the data speak for itself. However, please be aware that there is a fairly steep learning curve to master each advertising platform.

If you can only choose one to start with I would take into consideration the type of product or service you are promoting.

Is it something that people often use search engines to find?

If so, then search ads are a natural best choice. AdWords would be the most obvious choice.

Is it something that you can target with Display ads?

If so, then AdWords is again the best platform for Display Ads.

If it is something that is usually purchased based on recommendations from friends then you might test social media ads. Facebook Ads and Twitter Ads are both good candidates for social media ads. And you might also consider Email Ads which can be placed in gmail via the AdWords Platform.

If your product or service targets B2B then you might consider social media ads targeting business executives, or owners via LinkedIn Ads, or Interest based targeting in Facebook Ads as Well as In-Market targeting in AdWords.

If it is something that needs a little explanation to sell then Video Ads might be you best format. Again, AdWords is the platform that lets you run Video Ads on Youtube and many other websites. Native Ads that use an Advertorial type of landing page might also work for products or services that require a bit of explanation to express the true value of your offer. AdWords, Taboola, and Outbrain all offer Native Ad formats.

If you have physical products that are in high demand then you should look at using Shopping Ads, which can be placed via AdWords.

If you can only choose one platform to start you might consider AdWords because it can be used to target many different ad networks using many varieties of ad formats. Or, if your offer is only suitable for search ads and you are afraid to swim with the sharks you can start off in the kiddie pool with a much smaller ad network, like Bing Ads, where you might find fewer and less sophisticated competitors.

Until you don't have data, it is almost impossible to say this platform will work for you or not. So try all the platforms and see what works best for you.

One rule doesn't fit for all. Don't blindly copy competitors or someone else strategies.

I can't really say because I don't know exactly what you are promoting. Or what your budget is. If you are on a limited budget then use Bing Ads, or Facebook Ads. If you have more money to spend then use Adwords. There are many of tutorials and methods for using Adwords. I suggest you really study whatever ad service you choose, so you don't blow all your money.

Assuming these are physical products, our best success has come from Google Shopping, followed by Bing Shopping. If you have really good margins and don't mind waiting two weeks to get your money, Amazon would be next on the list. None of those use keywords.

Our experience with more than 100 stores has shown us that ever since Google launched PLAs (Google Shopping), traditional AdWords text ads are a very bad buy in terms of cost per conversion. The exception to that is if you are selling products to seniors or people who are inexperienced using computers. Our results show that seniors click and buy from text ads and recent studies show that, too. Every market is different; though, so you should test them all.

I think Adwords works in each case, but others such as Facebook and Linkedin are more specific.

Check and validate data available first. From there you can identify which PPC will work for you.
It takes a lot of patient and hard work to be successful with PPC.
