That's because your Facebook ads include links that lead to other Facebook pages, Facebook tries to take at least half of your ad click traffic for themselves. I think they prefer your ads lead to other Facebook pages as they cannot monetize traffic that leaves the Facebook walled garden.

In Facebook "clicks" do not mean the same thing as "clicks to website". And even in "clicks to website" you may not see all of that traffic show up on your website.

Facebook is not an open system. As a Facebook advertiser you must accept the fact that a significant portion of your ad spend will go to promote Facebook in general, rather than your own website. This is how they get and keep traffic, and revenue, within their walled garden.

Having said that, you should also verify your Google Analytics code implementation, there could be issues with how your code is implemented. You can use the Google Tag Assistant to verify that your code is implemented and firing correctly.

Here are some tips on how you can use Facebook ads for the best results:

    1. Use images well in your ads. If you look into the ads showing up in Facebook's sidebar, the ads with the best images stand out from all the rest. Learn from this and look for a visually pleasing image to use in your ad. Of course, make sure that you have the rights or permission to use the image. Make use of the images of people as much as possible.

    2. Target your ads. When it comes to targeting ads, Facebook is unparalleled. You can target an audience by location, gender, age, relationship status, education, interests, etc. So depending on who you want to reach, you should make use of these options when setting up your ads. This makes sure that your ads are seen by the right people.

    3. Try rotating ads. This is to test which types of ads deliver the best results. Track their performances, gather data then determine which ads to keep running.

    4. Write convincing and interesting ad copy. This is the text that accompanies the images in your ads.

If you implement all of these tips, you will maximize the results that you will get from your Facebook ads.
