I cannot get my landing page to convert. It is for an event/adventure planning company. My CTR in Adwords is about 1.5%. Below is my Ad. However, no one is converting, and I'm offering a free cooking class in the Ad, which is also featured in the landing page. Please help, any advice?

I'm not an expert but I'd confidently say that your #1 problem is that your Ad Copy doesn't correspond to your landing page, let alone the context of it.

Do you really think "epic adventures in your city, designed just for you every month." speaks to people who have searched for anything related to cooking/cooking classes?

Apart from the initial image you see when first landing on your page, there is nothing else on there that screams cooking to me and the URL doesn't help either.

My personal opinion... would be to drop cooking and focus on everything adventure related + adventure related keywords.

    HTH.

You need to keep it simple

As others have put, you need to think of the benefits to ghe reader, put that text along with a call to action on yiur page and a place to pyt their details

    Thats it.

i think you page is fine.

    However you have:

    1. zero traffic going to your site, no sure who you expect to convert
    2. you have zero backlinks
    3. you have zero authority
    4. you have zero social signal
    5. you don't have a social media account

    I can go on.

Just because you build a site does not mean you will get traffic.

STOP, worrying about conversions NOW. Build on your site authority first by guest posting, building (NOT BUYING) backlinks, go social, but only if you are going to make it lively and not some dead space.

Hi David, thanks so much for the reply and advice. I’m just curious though, what makes you say I have no traffic? I’m getting my traffic from Advertisements currently (PPC traffic). Did you mean I have no organic traffic? If so, that is mostly true.

I don't he realized that your are running an Adwords campaign.

But regarding your question... I can agree with that the landing page could be less "busy" and more focus, but I think your main problem is you campaign and probably your keywords.

I would try more variations and make sure that the actual search terms that triggered the ad/ads are relevant. Keep look at the those search terms and add negatives on a campaign level.

Also play around with ads. Sometimes you just have to find the right angle in the ad to get things to work.

  • You are bidding on "cooking class" but what you offer is not really a cooking class as far as I understand it. Seems that yes, that first adventure is a cooking class but that next week it'll be something else. Very likely not what someone who wants to take classes is looking for and hence, nobody converts.

So to me, your approach is all wrong.

Your ad headline offers cooking yet your body copy is offering adventures. This mismatch will naturally create confusion; hence, perhaps, the low page conversions. I am sure there are some people who like to cook, but few think of cooking as an adventure. You are essentially trying to sell the same thing to two prospects with differing motivations.

You have some gold on your landing page but it needs better positioning. More focus. This might sound like marketing blasphemy but the four offerings I see at the bottom of the page should have their own dedicated landing pages. Keep them tightly focused and send traffic that matches each page. I am biased but the "drive a Ferrari for the day" adventure could be a business in itself.

When doing PPC advertising, the key to success is as narrow a focus as possible -- the internet is too busy to put too many things before prospects.

Hope this helps you in some way.

Your problem is your page. Although all this parallax effects look interesting, you get lost from the first seconds you scroll down your cursor. Adwords won't let you target your audience the way that FB will. So, turn to FB advertising and start a couple of campaigns, redesign your homepage and be sure to simplify the process that they go through to add their emails.

Start with these and republish your homepage and I'll come up with more.
