Hey Guys,
I am a fresher to Search Engine Marketing and have recently cleared the Adwords Search Advertising Exam. My aim is to drive traffic to my website which sells various electronic items.

However I have a few queries and would highly appreciate if you could answer them:

1) What is an advisable minimum budget per day ( for maximize clicks)?
2) What is the minimum CPC one can use to bid on the search network?
3) What is a good default bid for the ad group?

Thanks so much

    Hi Siraj,

After your have created ad groups for you campaign you will be able to see estimated first page bids. You can also get estimates for the Top ads and First position ads once you have some click data gathered.

Once that data appears in your account (under the Keywords Tab) you will be able to see the estimated range of bids needed to get your ads onto the first page of search results for the targeted keyword.

There is no minimum budget requirement, and no minimum bid requirement, just realize that your daily budget limit, and you maximum CPC bids will set limits on when and how often you ad gets served if at all. The amount you must pay to get ad impressions is determined by your competitors bids, you must out bid you competitors to get you ad to show for any given ad position.

1- it depends on the keywords that you are using, maximize clicks will consume your daily budget if there are good monthly searches.

If you are not sure, then you can start with $50/day and see the response and accordingly optimise. Apart from that, i recommend considering the best keyword match type which will help to save your money.

2- There is no minimum CPC but if you bid a very low amount then your ad might not appear so you can start according to the suggested bid by the system.

3- You can start with $1 and analyze the performance then optimise.

I would start small and test. Only pick a few keywords for each adgroup. See where it ranks and what the CTR is. Scale up and tweak things as you learn and make progress.

I also like focusing on long tail keywords, because they are typically cheaper and less competitive. Just my two cents.
