Why is internet marketing all about T1 countries?

Hi all warriors,
It is an industry standard practice that people doing online marketing (not only IM/MMO, but also other niches as well) all want their traffic to be T1 (US, UK, CA, AU, NZ).
For third-world countries traffic, I understand they don't afford to buy but how about other rich European countries like France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Norway, Sweden... What's wrong about them? Is there any "hidden" reasons that lots of marketers out there don't want their offer to be shown to non- English speaking countries traffic?
Thanks

    Hi Paul,

I would say it is due to two reasons major reasons and a whole lot of other minor reasons:

    1. USA is not only the largest market, it is also the place where Free Enterprise was born out of American Exceptionalism (Freedom to Rule Oneself Under Natural Law). This one idea brought forth the most prosperous nation in history.

    2. English is the common language of the USA, as such, American style Free Enterprise has spread to many of the other English speaking nations, so currently the First World bloc of English speaking nations are far and away the most prosperous language to target for commerce.

America was founded on the idea of Free Enterprise and Free Trade combined with self-rule. This led a once tiny settlement in the wilderness into a great nation of commerce. If you want to prosper in trade you must do business with the people that are in the market, and that overwhelmingly is English speaking nations at this point in history.

It might change in the future, especially as these 1st world nations embrace globalism which tends to lower prosperity to the lowest common denominator.

It boils down to economics, you get more revenue targeting the larger markets. The return on your investment in resources, especially time, is far greater if you target the larger markets. You are simply seeing free market principles at work.

    HTH,

    Don Burk

  • I agree with the purchase liability plus most countries in the West are more able to access the Internet, to have the means of payment (credit cards or Paypal for example), and also have the money to buy. For an affiliate marketer, all these things can save them from frauds and refunds.
