What is SQL? Is SQL essential to become an online advertiser?

Please Suggest. I want to become an online advertiser. SQL is compulsory to be an Online advertiser, I mean to create and manage advertise on Adwords ?

    I dont think you need to know SQL to advertise and manage your Adwords accounts. I have been using excel and some ppc management tools and never needed to know a database software.

    SQL is Structured Query Language. It is a programming language used by most database systems.

    Do you need to know SQL to be a good online advertiser? No, but it helps. You can get along without it if you have a small campaign. But a large one - say when you get into the thousands of products being advertised - knowing about databases and thus SQL is going to be a lifesaver. If you are a professional and manage many accounts, it becomes a must. Excel by the way is a spreadsheet, not a database management system, and just won't cut it. As my dad often told me, use the proper tool for the job.

    Online marketing is very data intensive. That means you need to know (or have someone who knows) about databases. So in effect, you need to be not only an online marketer but a database person. A solid foundation in statistics is also recommended.

    SQL (Structured Query Language) is a domain-specific language used in programming and designed for managing data held in a relational database management system (RDBMS), or for stream processing in a relational data stream management system (RDSMS).

    In my opinion SQL is not essential to become an online advertiser or to create and manage advertise on Adwords.

    I'm saying no - you don't need to know it. I used to be a SQL programmer where I wrote complex queries (Spufis) everyday.

    Unless you have products in ACCESS DB or any other DB - then you may have to know it...but you can easily get access to Business Objects or Crystal Reports to query anything for you.

    So no - you don't need to know SQL.

    SQL is the structured query language and is used for managing the relational database and thus performs various data on them. It is the standardized programming language.
    I think you do not need the SQL language to become online advertiser, as it is not essentially required for creating and managing the data in it.
