Hello all,

I would like to ask what's people experience with this, I have been trying to use bing ads but I'm quite disapointed as there are many bot clicks according to clickmagick... is there anything I can do to avoid that ??

I have contacted the support and they claim they do their best to filter out bot clicks.. but apparently there is still alot to do... I managed to get a small refund for that.

There are also PLENTY of clicks from the same IP that are labelled as "unique" clicks sometimes 2 sometimes 4.. so much for "unique" right.

I also would like to ask about unrelated keyword searches.. some keywords are sooo random.. I even had like domain name searches and other stupid terms.

Should I forget broad and do just exact match ?

Also one thing I wonder ..someone told me about negative keywords, I was wondering is it possible to include a huge list of negative keywords ? if so are there any of such list I can have access to

Also overall conversion are very low.. but I had some setting wrong so it didn't target just the country but also "that talks about targeted country" and ..after a few times talking with support they told me to use "only Bing and yahoo network" so that might help..

So far I'm very disapointed with bing to me it feels trash, I'm certainly missing something, right ? I feel I may be missing some things, but that overall it's pretty damn bad..

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hi Itachi,

Sounds like there could be some quick and easy improvements to certain aspects of your campaign targeting to fix some of your major campaign issues.

Stop using broad match keywords. They are only good for ferreting out new related keyword ideas but using the Bing Keyword Planner tool is a better way to do that, in my opinion.

Stick with Exact match keywords as your primary keyword targeting method, using Phrase match sparingly, and only with negative match keywords. If you can't get enough search volume (a common issue on Bing) you can try modified broad match keywords, but use separate, significantly reduced, Max CPC bids on them to avoid spending much money on irrelevant search terms.

Most negative keywords utilized will need to be highly specific to your niche, and to specific keywords within a specific ad group. Again, you can use the Keyword planner tool to discover irrelevant search terms that might be triggered by your keywords. Using this tool you can discover irrelevant search terms upfront and block them before ever wasting a a single penny on them.

Additionally, you will want to frequently run a Search Terms report to discover any irrelevant search terms that are being triggered by your keywords, add those as negatives to the campaign, or ad group, whereever applicable.

Where practical split your campaigns into smaller geographic regional targeting segments and use Advanced location targeting to select "Show ads to people in your targeted location". This will limit your ads to people in that location. That prevents bots that are based outside your targeted location from ever finding your ads to click.

If you can identify a small number of specific locations that is sending bot traffic you can add those geographic locations to be excluded from your campaigns.

If you are able to identify specific IP Addresses used by bots then go ahead and add those IP addresses to the Campaign IP exclusions box in the Advanced Campaign settings.

Another way to prevent bot traffic is to use day parting. Look for specific hours of they day that you get regular and frequent bot traffic, like just after midnight in some locations. Use the ad schedule feature to automatically reduce bids, or pause ads, during those high bot activity periods of the day.

    HTH,
