Set a budget and dive into it. Google has a team of PPC professionals who will help you along the way. They know you are investing your money with them, hence, they have to help you optimize your Google ads to get more sales, so you will continue to spend more with them!

If your background is from SEO, you can start by creating own campaign and checking things. I mean the best way to learn is to set up a campaign and start by yourself.

The best learning is doing. At the end of the day, you need to do it to be able to learn. If you are looking for training, I'd check out aff playbook. At the end of the day you will still need to take action to learn it though.

Perry Marshall has a great book about AdWords and PPC in general called The Ultimate Guide to Google Adwords. I would start with that and follow everything else he puts out there.

Oh, if only the world really worked like that...

Google has a team of PPC professionals whose job it is to maximize your Google ad spend. They will gladly help you optimize your ads to generate the maximum number of clicks. Often, the ads that generate the most clicks do not have the best ROI.

If you take their advice keeping this in mind, and watch your numbers like a hawk, the Google team can help you avoid technical errors.

This was going to be my recommendation. Perry's book is a few years old now, so I'd do some googling to see if he has anything more up to date.

Once you have the basics, the best way to learn is to set a budget and set up a campaign.

This only works if you have enough background to tell the difference between people with real knowledge and people with a hidden agenda.

Whether it's YT or a blog or whatever, a lot of the information out there is out of date, and a lot of it was never right to begin with.

If something seems questionable, run it by the support people for the PPC platform - and save the response. Without it, if your account is suspended for violating TOS, "a guy on YouTube said it was okay" will not work as a defense. "JohnDoe26 from your support department said it was okay (email attached)" has a much better chance of restoring your account.

David Szetela's book is good, so is Andrew Goodman's

PPCHero is a great blog geared specifically to the topic.

And without a doubt the Google videos are great but more for the functioning of Adwords - the actual marketing tips come from blogs by people who use Adwords

You can find a few good online courses that will teach you how to do proper PPC however to become a master in this skills you will have to put it into action, test various campaigns yourself with different offers, tweak as need be, learn from mistakes till you become perfect in it. PPC is more about been practical and not just the theological aspect of it. Hope that helps.

I would start off by reading the book Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins. It's old, but it's the foundational text. A lot of people on here are mentioning Perry Marshall's book, The Ultimate Guide to Adwords, but even he highly recommends and sources from the book Scientific Advertising.

So start there, and ignore most of the advice people are giving you right now.

Hopkins' book is indeed a classic. Should be on the must-read list for anyone promoting anything.

It's even in the public domain.

The only catch is, it won't teach you anything about the mechanics of Adwords or PPC in general.

Of course, there's no rule that says you can't read both...

Read more on the topic, there are plenty of blog posts online.
Try with a small budget on adwords, bing and fb

If no budget, find some clients and use their budget to promote their websites and you learn.
Every PPC company has relationship managers to help you.

I would start with official Google Academy and take their online training for AdWords Certification.
It is free and gives a pretty decent overview of different aspects of PPC.

Begin preparation with the AdWords Fundamentals exam and go from there.
The questions or explanations you won't understand, just google and use youtube.
