What's the best way to test/troubleshoot a Facebook ad?

Hello,

I recently made a Facebook ad to promote my writing service. I spent two dollars a day and read the ad for one week. It received no clicks.

A friend of mine suggested testing the image. They told me to pick out four different images and use them on the same ad. They said Facebook would show the image that the audience responded most favorably to.

However, I can't seem to find a way to run the same ad with four different images. The only thing I can find is the carousel ad format. I don't think this is what I'm looking for.

Any advice on how to test my ad and figure out which images to use would be greatly appreciated.

There are many important things you need to know before run
    a Facebook ad campaign like

    - Ad copy

    - Budget set
    - Optimization.

      Thanks, Ben.

I started reading the guide. It is very helpful. I found that some of the difficulty I was having was due to the fact that my account was not set up correctly.

I think there are still issues with my account. But, at least, I was able to upload multiple images with the same ad.

Thanks for the advice. It was very helpful.

    wheelstb,

You should run multiple ads and see which one performs the best. Sounds like you have a bad ad. Kill the ones that don't work, scale the ones that do.

Try to make a interesting intro and eye catching title.

  • To test your ad, what you need to do is to actually create 4 ads using the different images but the same text for all of them. Run them all at the same time. Then check in 24 to 48 hours and remove which ones are not performing.

You may also want to test your add copy. It's basically the same process. But this time, you use different copies for different ads but use the same picture (the best performing image ).

Here are two points to consider when you're creating a highly converting ad .

    1) Image : Your Facebook Ad must have an image that captures your audience interest. Facebook is a social online community where people go to chat and meet friends. And your advert must interrupt and distract them so as to get your target audience click on your ad.
An image of humans work pretty well.

You can put an image of a very excited happy person or also an image of a depressed/sad face.

Your Ad Message : Your ad message must create intrigue and curiosity.

    - Use Painpoint : People want to benefit from something without struggle or pain .

When you include the pain point of your niche in your ad message, it will increase your ad clicks. E.g Discover How to Lose Ugly fat in 10 days without excercise .

From the example above you'll noticed howused the pain point " excerise" in the ad message. You can also here's the formula... Discover how to _____ (Benefit)____in ___(Period)____without _______(Pain Point).

That's how you create a converting advert message. That gets attention and CLICKS.

I have launched a second ad. THE same copy. This time, I tried four different images. One was an image of a man looking directly into the camera. I was thinking along those same lines.

Also, I was giving away a free blog post to anyone that signed up on my landing page.

My copy said something to the effect of: save time and money by getting a free custom created blog post.

The title said something to the effect of: get a free custom blog or white paper.

I was thinking that would be a good way to appeal to their pain points and let them know how to remedy the problem of not having enough or the proper type of content.

      Some constructive criticism:

You have 4 ads but they are all the same! Your text is exactly the same on all of them. Only the image is different. The important part of your message is not the image but the text.

Typo in the text. You don't have a space between money and "and". That doesn't build confidence, especially since you are a content writer.

Why capitalize money, time and free? I know you want those words to stand out but isn't that against their TOS?

The ad mentions all these benefits (save time, money and connect with audience) which is good. But I think that "connect with your audience" might work best being mentioned first. You should test that instead of repeating the same thing. Find out what your clients want; is it indeed to save time and money?

I'm unclear about the bottom text. I'm sure you mean you'll write a free article given what you do but some may have a different interpretation. I would rewrite that line.

Finally, who are you targeting in Facebook? $2 a day is probably not going to get you much exposure. You got no clicks but how many times have the ads been seen? An 0-for-100 is not significant but an 0-for-10,000 might be.

        I agree with LucidWebMarketing.

I would like to add another most important point which is the blood of your FB ads campaign. Ad "Targeting". You can't make a successful campaign without reaching the right audience.

You have a right copy, image, budget and product/offer. if you can't reach the right audience it definitely fails your campaign.

Here is an ultimate guide to Facebook ads targeting, I am sure it will help you to learn right audience targeting https://adespresso.com/blog/guide-fa...thods-exposed/

With facebook ad prices running at $1 per click and more, they simply will not run an ad with a $2 budget.

Test your ad using a less expensive method.

We would be happy to advise you about this.
