Doubt in Adwords conversion tracking

Hello,

Am using GTM to track the conversion in AdWords. My doubt is, we are using the same page for sign in and sign up

https://www.example.com/account.php?Page=login
https://www.example.com/account.php?Page=newacc

We want to track how many visitors click sign up button not sign in.

For your information, our ads landing page is https://www.example.com/account.php

We set up trigger in GTM as "Page URL contains account.php?Page=newacc"

Whether Google Tag Manager consider https://www.example.com/account.php as page or https://www.example.com/account.php?Page=newacc

Whether the conversion pixel triggers when we reach https://www.example.com/account.php?Page=newacc alone or this page too https://www.example.com/account.php

Issue: We are getting Clicks = conversion in the Adwords interface.

    Hi PraveenkumarElango,

The Google Tag Manager's preview mode is your friend. It will tell you everything you need to know about which tag is firing and when.

    Google Tag Manager's preview mode

I use that tool for every marketing tag implementation I do.

I would think you would want to embed the analytics code into the Sign In button, activate onclick and see if that works.

      Hi PBScott,

He's using GTM to implement the tracking code, so not sure your advice "to embed the analytics code into the Sign In button" makes any sense. His analytics code is already injected via GTM.

It sounds like Praveen is asking if his conversion event trigger is implemented properly, and GTM has a built-in tool just for that express purpose. All he needs to do is enable the "Preview mode" to debug his implementation. The Preview mode will indicate exactly which tags are firing, and which are not firing, both on the page load as well as on click events.

That built-in tool is all you need to test and confirm that your implementation is working as expected. It is especially useful if you are using event triggers. But it sounds like Preveen is using simple pageview triggers which should be quick and easy to verify proper implementation using the Preview mode in GTM.

      HTH,

      Don Burk
