Looking for ways to increase conversions with adwords.

How many sales/conversions do you get per 100 adwords targeted clicks?

Please advice.

  • Assuming proper keyword targeting, conversions are more a factor of your landing page. You can have the most relevant keywords possible, great compelling ads, but if your page doesn't convince to buy, you'll have low conversion rate. Think of this extreme: a great campaign and everything done right but going to a blank page will result in a 0% conversion rate. It's not a question of improving Adwords itself for a better conversion rate, it's improving your landing page. You have to look at both sides of the equation.

    • I think #2,3, & 7 only directly impact the clickthrough rate and not necessarily the conversions rate. Are you including these because it will attract a more appropriate traffic to your landing page? Am I missing something?

  • In my experience, it depends on the season. I have a small travel booking website which focuses on local tours.

    In the peak season, I see a good percent of conversion and in the off-season, I lost money in AdWords without any conversion. It is not because AdWords is useless, but no one wants to visit places in monsoon flood season.

    So my experience tells AdWords conversion has an effect on the season if your business is related to travel.

    Another advice is to make the landing page very user-friendly and gives the visitor a killer offer. Many websites provide similar offers. We should try to give the visitors a better one.

    But just follow the simple rule - target your maximum cost per conversion that you are ready to pay and adjust. It varies very much - if you're selling pizza delivery, obviously you're not ready to pay for click as much as you would if selling yacht charter , right?

    CTR is not so important, compared to the quality of clicks that ultimately increases probability of conversions. So focus to get relevant clicks, not to get high CTR AND as many clicks as possible. You could profit even with low CTR, (1-3%), if those clicks are relevant enough.
