I want to make a website that will sell things for the price range of $10 - $20.

As I understand it, to get a customer on Facebook, it costs you $10 on average.
(Please correct me if I'm wrong - newbie here.)

So... selling a $10 product isn't realistic for a product range of $10.
$20 - maybe, but then need to add shipping cost, which would make profit minimal.
OK, if I sell 1000 and have a relative small amount of returns.

Just wanted some thoughts from others on where I would start.

Thanks.

You can invest in growing your brand and attracting more people towards your Facebook page, maybe that will be more effective.

Use contests, promos, discounts and other techniques to attract people.

An interesting study in Chinese 'aimed at americans' sites are the 'fashion sites that are widely advertised.

Really good looking clothing designs - reasonable pricing - but what you get is inferior product, low end fabrics, bad seams and sizing that is off the charts...literally.

Why bother to run these sites? Because when the inferior product is received....common for buyers to ask for a refund...at which time they are told to get a refund they must pay shipment (to china) and wait for item to arrive before being refunded....OR (great news!) the dissatisfied buyer can accept a partial refund and keep the product. What a deal!

Except the product is unusable - the first refund offer is about 15-20% what you paid - if you reject it the offers increase up to 30-40% of what you paid. Most unhappy buyers take the refund rather than pay more shipping to return the product and wait the weeks it might take.

A scam? I'd say so but I'm sure it's legal... Too bad as I would order many of the products if the quality matched the designs they advertise. This practice began a few years ago but in the past couple of years it has proliferated into hundreds of 'fashion sites'

This is a real 'thing' online and my guess is those sites make a good amount of money due to the partial refunds....

You can get customers for free from Facebook through creating an FB page and promoting the page through your social accounts like twitter and FB itself. If you have to do FB advertising, costs vary on the niche you are in.

There are various costs involved in selling. transport, packaging, human labor. But if you do dropshipping, then only marketing and advertising expenses. However, $ 10 is too low a price for the product. You will have low margins. Such products are only suitable as accessories. Therefore, I recommend selling something a little more expensive. Or do SEO and build a brand - this will significantly reduce your CPA in the long run.
