Facebook Ads advice

Hi all, I'm hoping someone could give me some advice on targeting the right people using Facebook ads, because I'm new to it.

I'm trying to reach pet grooming businesses, but the people I'm attracting have nothing to do with that profession.

The first ad I created, I used job titles such as: 'pet groomer' 'dog groomer' 'owner' 'founder' ect.

Interests: 'dog grooming'

must match

behaviour: 'business page admins' 'small business owners'

On the second ad, I removed the job titles, and kept the same interests and behaviours, and the results were the same.

Is their something I'm doing wrong?

Any advice would be appreciated.

    You're on the right track, but job titles and interests alone often aren't precise enough. Try combining "Dog grooming" with "Pet Business Owner" or "Pet Supplies Store." Retarget visitors to your website or people who've engaged with pet industry content.

    Running FB ads is a business that takes time to learn,
    you're not going to nail it if you are just starting out.

    There are 500+ books about FB ads at Amazon and
    hundreds of courses on the various platforms.

    You should probably look into those.

    I'm surprised that they allow you to use the word

    "groom"

    at all.

    You need to ensure it's not an issue.

    Your targeting is close but might be too broad. You can improve this by following:
    • Use more particular job titles and exclude irrelevant roles
    • Narrow interest by combining "dog grooming" with related category
    • Experiment with custom audience
    • Test different ads creatives and messaging to better to attract target

    This approach will help to reach the right pet grooming business audiences

    What helped me was installing the Facebook Pixel and building a Custom Audience of people who'd actually visited my site's "Book a Groomer" page. That way, I knew I was talking to folks already interested in the service.
