A hit! First ever PPC campaigns on 7search- so far 2 in positive ROI (both over 50%)... next steps..

I've read a lot of 7search posts on here, with the overwhelming majority saying how bad the traffic is. Well let me tell you about my experience so far which has actually been positive (much to my own surprise even). I now have 11 campaigns setup, with two in big ROI territory

Firstly I have NEVER previously setup a PPC campaign on any other platform. I chose 7search as baby steps only because I knew it was easy to setup. Although I'm not a total newbie, I've been a bit of a dabbler for a couple of years, until finally seeing enough evidence PPC/CPA is the real way forward. I'd also like to give a big shout out to PPC Coach whose information via his training has been immense. And also gleamed some very useful info from Lukepeerfly too via his blog.

The first campaign I setup from a Maxbounty offer yielded a sale within a few hours, and then more kept trickling in over the course of the week. I've also read a number of case studies- apart from PPC Coach and Lukepeerfly, Greedy too- where they made positive ROI on campaigns.

So from my experience so far this is the broad formula I've seen used and followed.

-Setup multiple campaigns- some offers just don't convert. Initially I picked offers by looking at EPC- and whilst this amy be a good "general" guide" the figure could be skewed as it's probably an overall figure taking into consideration all traffic sources. You simply have to test.

-Keyword research- obviously. The 7search keyword tool is actually okay. I didn't use the Google keyword tool (or whatever it's called now) at all. I've done some campaigns where I've pulled off a lot of keywords (over 200) and others where I've picked just 40 by manually selecting.

-Spying on good ad copy using Ispionage/Spyfu etc- I tend to look at ads that appear in high-ish positions and have been around a while. Also having read quite a few sales books/guides I would say my copy writing skills are above average (picking impulse and call to action words, embedded commands and the odd bit of NLP thrown in)

-Being VERY viglant in blocking bad sub Ids. My first campaign was making a marginal profit until I noticed nearly 100 clicks from one source, with no conversions which as soon as I saw this source I blocked it on 7search, and by ROI has shot up. I'm aware some traffic from 7search could be from bots etc so act on them fast. Maybe where this is where many fall down on.

-Raising bids, analysing page rank, impressions, clicks. To ensure your keywords are getting impressions, clicks.

-Be vigilant in tracking/calculating spend per keyword/ROI. The tracking software setup was pretty tricky and gave me a headache actually, but now that I've done it a few times I can setup and run a new campaign in 15 minutes. In fact of all the "technical" steps this was the hardest, but very important.

-Hunting for markets- I did a fair bit of research into what kind of offers convert generally and then specifically 7search. although to be fair ultimately you'll only know once it's running...

-Talking to my affiliate manager- she pointed me to the first offer/campaign and was pleased as the offer converted immediately. I did also ask some quite specific questions such as within niches, and how offers were setup.

So far so good. I've read that if an offer converts well on search, it will convert much better so i guess the next phase (apart from finding more profitable keywords and campaigns on 7search) in my plan is to scale up to Bing or somwhere similar. Any suggestions?

That is direction I would go next. You seem to be on the right path. But remember Bing Ads is a bit more complex than 7Search and there is more settings to master, and details to learn. Good Luck.

Indeed, I've already watched a few Bing videos so have a general understanding of how it works... I do think it was vitally important just to learn the mechanisms of PPC thru 7search, I spent so long um-ing and ahh ing about which one to start first, a real mental barrier has been smashed! Now I KNOW it's possible...

...and when all's said and done it really wasn't that hard. I often wonder whether the majority of newbies just self sabotage by believing the negativity. I know I was held back from taking action by reading the complainers and moaners, it's like having passed through some sort of prism and coming out with a different perspective of the world!

Congratulations on your success! I too am learning for 7search right now. Can I ask a question? Do you use landing pages or do you direct link?

I'm direct linking every offer. I'll try landing pages as a split test maybe at a later point, but since I have 3 campaigns that convert well without any extra work I might as well leave them!

Awesome keep up the hard work. Scale up as much as you can by making similar campaigns ect.

Good Luck with Bing when you get there.

One campaign I have in particular is converting like crazy like 1 in every 5 or 6 clicks I'm getting a conversion- ROI close to 100% now! In fact it would be even higher except for the fact I accidently put the wrong url in when mass updating yesterday (I must have copied from the wrong file), and when when I reactivated it sent to the wrong damn page! So angry- nearly 100 clicks to the wrong offer...grrr.

But this one campaign alone has brought my total revenue to date to well exceed my spend, covering all the other loss leaders!

That's surely part of it, but I think many people lose a little money initially, and immediately lose faith in their goals. They forget that testing is what makes a campaign successful, and that some campaigns just don't measure up. Indeed knowing when to just tweek, and when to cut a campaign entirely can make a huge difference in profitability.

Actually what was stopping me taking action before was not the fear, it was more "how many other things do I have to try that won't or might not make money I'm not sure if I can be bothered" but in all truthfulness I only ever made really half arsed attempts at IM before. The difference here was definately a combination it all coming together; of seeing casestudies beforehand confirmation/evidence that it works; seeing lots of people having made it work; reading enough about it to know PPC is probably where the big money is; and having seen a really clear method I saw via PPC Coach/Luke Peerfly and various posts.

I did binary options trading before so I already have experience in detailed, meticulous tweaking and analytics of data and rapidly changing markets. This is a doddle compared to trying to trade options once you get over how the system works!

Also it dawned on me from an "opportunity cost" perspective that if I put the same amount of effort into this someone puts into say an MBA, trying to start an "offline business" I'll most probably come out with far more money, business nous then they ever would!

Good luck with you campaigns! I definitely agree that 7Search is a valuable testing bed to find lucrative keywords without spending much, then port successful campaigns to larger networks.

I would say it may depend on what you're promoting on 7search. All my conversions have come from CPA lead/email zip submit offers.

If you are promoting an offer which needs a sale you may be better off doing a landing page. I do have a friend who is converting clickbank products by direct linking though so I can't say I know about what type of those products convert yet.

What type of offer are you promoting?

I agree... direct linking vs. landing page vs. building a list ... depends more on the offer than the traffic source.

Spend on keywords (with keywords censored). From last 2 weeks

As you can see basically 4 campaigns have converted, the rest have no conversions and 2 campaigns have converted a lot, making back the cost of my entire spend so far, I've tested a tonne of new campaigns since then, almost none of the new ones converting, so I'll keep the two original highly converting ones, optimize further and cut out the rest...

Most things I've tried do not convert or work at all, probably 95% or more...

However there will be things I think which could work with a landing page or using a different angle I think. So far I've not built any landing pages for these offers- the zip/email submits I'm not if it's worth it, but for something which sells for $50, $75 it may be worth it. Some of the offers like for software I'm sure could convert with that extra step, so that may be one of my next plans...

I've tried with email/zip submits and had no luck because these offers do not look like a real thing, so that's why most people don't complete them.
Right now I'm trying to promote offers that pay way more like between $20-$50 that have a more appealing landing page, I often choose the ones I like the most.
I'm just starting, so hoping I'll get more success on this, since if one of these offers convert I'll have $20 to $50 per conversion.

My question is if any has tried dating offers on 7search?...

I have had success with a couple of email submits, but most have flopped. There are indeed lots of really crappy looking submits which look pseudo scammy, but to be honest I now no longer pick anything I don't think is reputable as you have to be an idiot to put your details into those in the first place!

I have tried some dating offers and some have actually worked. I also know someone who managed to sell a clickbank product on 7search direct linking with success. He was also kind (or foolish!) enough to tell me exactly which one it was

I've just as of yesterday managed to get a cluster of sales for a product which is $25 a sale, spent only $5 on advertising that one so far, and made $100!

More like this I'm banking on

Woah, that's great! So if your point of view which has worked best to promote dating offers 7search or POF?
Do you use direct link on those or do you use goo.gl, tiny, bit.ly, etc?

I've been wanting to try both at the same time but I'm having a tight budget as of now.. So I can't just jump right into the pool haha

I have no experience using POF yet so can't say a great deal.

I do know however that POF is all about your image/bammer/headline and getting a higher clickthrough rate and it's not PPC it's PPV impressions.

In theory traffic quality on POF should be a lot better than 7search, but you optimise in a different way.

Luke Peerfly, PPC Coach and Greedy know a lot about POF so do a search for their posts on here...

Good on you man, I tried 7Search but no luck just yet, but will try again sometime. I am also looking for other advertising networks to try, just beefing up my resources.

Also I think it's highly unlikely you'll get rich off 7search but it's a good training ground as clicks are very cheap and you'll understand the fundamentals of PPC like optimisation- managing a budget, split testing, calculating max spend per keyword, ROI.

Although there are people out there making more than $100 or $200 a day off it, it's a small minority. I think Jimmy Breseden is doing that- has anyone done his PPC Quake WSO? I heard he's using Clickbank direct link and doing well off it.

Basically I'd be happy to have a dozen small scale campaigns and to bring in $1.5 2k per month

IMO 7search is a decent starting point, but IMO there isn't enough traffic to solely rely on it, but with that being said - it's a good place to start..

Really inspiring Dragonsfire, I'm just getting into this testing ground and had only read bad reviews on 7search. Refreshing to read of people having success.

      Well done!

I have tested one or two gambling offers briefly, but I put bids very low and did not get many clicks as my position was too low.

I notice that some of the most expensive keywords in 7search are gambling ones so I may do some more testing in this area and raise my bid.

Quick update. Some progress in optimisation which I'll describe in great detail.

My campaigns have been whittled down to three are converting well and have good ROI. two others are converting but not yet profitable but I'm getting incorrect data. The second one in particular is getting multiple conversions every day still. The first one I setup has become more sparodic but still in positive ROI, this one needs the most optimisation, and I let it slip a little. The third one is in large ROI and am testing it on Bing because in theory it should sell there.

I tested the third campaign on Bing and so far to my shock it's converted better on 7search! However I've spent not even half the amount of the price of the conversion on Bing traffic and not got a conversion (used the credit coupon)- so this is definately not enough to gather enough proper data on Bing. I've been told from several sources spend twice the cost of a conversion if it's split between a group of keywords. In fact most of the time I've been far more ruthless than that and cut it off between the total clicks values half to one conversions! Anyone got any experiences of this to share how much you spend to gather data?

*In fact my ROI on 7search would be even better had I been managing my Sub ID and keyword blocking more meticulously. This is what I'm doing now to really REALLY optimise it (especially campaign #2 which is tailing off):-

        1) Pull up the 7search campaigns list

        2) Pull up the tracker data in a tab next to it so you can switch between them/view side to side

        3) Go through the tracker data

I do a fast scan of the first few hundred entries- my data is sorted by total spend per keyword.

        I look for patterns:-

Where a keyword is about to hit max spend per keyword I immediately copy the keyword then do a search to look at if the keyword has converted at all for any sub IDs. If it has then it's a problem of bad or inappropriate traffic from sites/ sub IDs and not the keyword+offer itself.

-If it has converted but only on some sub IDs I block the bad performing sub IDs. It depends what mood I'm in but I usually block at the threshold of 15-20 clicks without a sale (or equal to the amount of clicks/cost up to my max spend per keyword) I also sometimes will allow a sub ID a bit more leeway if I notice it has converted for other offers but not this one- in this scenario this is the keyword or offer itself which does not suit the visitors or SUB ID.

-I scan for sub IDs themselves to hunt for ones which perform well or poorly as a whole. I tend to block sub IDs by campaign only unless I have seen a sub ID appear for numerous campaigns/offers and keywords and not make any sales therefore this is crap/bot traffic and I block it for ALL campaigns.

Apart from that I've not really tested other new campaigns yet. There are two other offers I have paused which were converting but the postback/tracking pixel was not sending me the right data- still trying to find out if it was problem of the merchant or the tracker itself. Once I get that, I'll restart those as I think using the above described method I can make them profitable.

Not done any new campaigns for quite a whiile, but Just launched 2 new campaigns today as my aff manager recommended a couple of offers. One is very similar to the offer that converts like crazy so I'm going to give it a shot.

Spent a short amount of time stopping and cleaning up unprofitable keywords/ sub Ids today too.

I also noticed there was one affiliate product loads of people are promoting on 7search, so I'm also going to test that too.

My conversions have remained constant, although I was testing more campaigns and more keywords, some which weren't profitable which ate into my overall ROI. I didn't really check my stats properly for a while either, I logged in again this week and I shut down like 6 unprofitable keywords on my main campaign, killed 2 campaigns which were marginally break even but the main campaign still converting well and I'm spending much less now, I'll just let it run like that for a while...

Congrats on the success! Now its time to keep doing what you're doing and scale it up.

Maybe try to duplicate your campaign on some of the bigger networks.

I had about 3-4 campaigns going in first 2-3 months which bought in around $300-400 per month in total. I paused a few other ones though, and I paused most of my campaigns to clean up some sub IDs and analyse spend/profit, then restarted them. I've just started a handful of new ones now...

It does take a bit of time to filter through and test offers but over a long period of time you could have a lot of small profitable campaigns I think.

I'm doing Facebook ads with teespring at the moment, I've not tried it with CPA. I think maybe having a fanpage in a popular niche then mixing with CPA, Amazon could be a way to do that...

I don't know much about what facebook will allow in terms of CPA direct link- but I think you can't do it without a redirect?

Broad. This is what PPC Coach, & Luke Peerfly recommend...

You may get more targeted clicks with the other two but because search volume is not that high on 7search you may get much fewer clicks...

At the moment I just pick between 10-40 keywords to start with I have gone for loads and loads before, like 200 but it's more time consuming trying to filter them out.

I've found that generally it is the ones I have expected to convert that do convert anyway. So with the suggestions I will go through and pick them manually rather than select all. I use the 7search keyword tool as it it shows data within 7search, No need to use Google Keyword planner...
