Hey all, I have 2 clients that are ready for PPC their monthly spend are very small. I'm looking for a tool that will allow me to save on time and helps to optimize bid management. Any idea....Oh I say their monthly spend is small I mean small just a couple of hundred dollars.

The level of bid automation they'd need at that scale is built-in to AdWords directly. When you set up a new campaign for them, just choose "AdWords will set my bids to maximize clicks within my budget". You can still set a maximum CPC the autobidder will not go over. Set up conversion tracking immediately, and in following months you can optionally change the automatic bidding strategy to "Focus on conversions" which will adjust keyword bids based on their historical conversion rates for that client.

Hey help me out, I did exactly what you said Dan, bad thing is the eCommerce solution I'm using doesn't allow any room for to add the add the conversation tracking code (shoplocket). None the less (a little history) I redesigned their site to their liking so it is new, just starting seo on it. The status of my ad is approved but is saying that my ad rank is low, where do I start to improve that?

To build on what dan said, create a pivot table and find the optimal keyword position for that client, then create two automated rules. one that increase the bids when they are below that position and one that decreased the bids when they are above that position.

      It is for text ads

Automated Bidding is not recommended for text ads as they are far less effective for eCommerce stores compared to Google PLA's (Shopping).

There are built-in tools for automated bidding on AdWords but with smaller ad budgets and the fact that they are eCommerce stores why not just run Google Shopping Campaigns instead? They are highly convertable and easy to manage with either experience or the right platform.

Your ad rank is determined by Relevance (Title/Description) & MaxCPCxQualityScore. This happens to be one of the reasons text ads are not as powerful for eCommerce sites. Depending on the competition, you may not be able to justify cost versus ROAS (Return on Ad Spend). Also the landing pages for those ads need to be as close to immaculate as possible (a dream but its the truth).

As well you are also looking at the need for long-term keyword/negative keyword planning and implementation to get the most out of any AdWords campaign. This is something that requires a good amount of market research on competitors in those niches.

If you aren't proficient with AdWords then I suggest you start studying up by becoming a Google Partner and utilizing the certification testing material.

Before I get too lengthy, these sites you are managing are eCommerce sites yes? They sell products?

Yes, they are...I agree they should be on the shopping network...is that a lengthy process. Not ppc illiterate but not the expert..I mean I passed the Adwords cert test but it was for my former company and that company was so large I never got to use any of it. Now I'm on my own and need to either learn ASAP or outsource it. The thing is it's their first time in the adword arena and don't want to folk out large budgets for it.

This is the basic gist of it:

    (1) Register for Google Merchant Center.

    (2) Create a product feed that conforms to Google's specification. There are tools that'll do this automatically for most major shopping cart software.

    (3) Upload the feed file to your Google Merchant Center account and connect it to your AdWords account

    (4) Log in to AdWords, create a new campaign, and choose Shopping as the type. When you're asked to create your first ad group, you'll be asked to choose what products to put into it. All the products from your store will already be there showing within AdWords.

Dan definitely gave the basics but as far as assuring profitable revenue and monitoring/adjusting bids and determining SKU level profit and loss you'll need a lot more than Merchant Center & AdWords.

I'd be happy to do a demo on how we could help you with both text and shopping campaigns.

Ecommerce Software, Online Store Builder, POS - Free 14-day Trial by Shopify

Build an online store with 3dcart. eCommerce Software & Shopping Cart Software.

Both for smaller stores work great and are pretty cost-efficient and there are plenty of other options such as:

    Bigcommerce.com
    magento.com
    volusion.com
    zencart.com
    pinnaclecart.com

You'll need to fix up some of those product images but honestly the site isn't too bad at all. Cannot speculate on optimization as I do not know where you are in the process
