Beware of this spam!
Share on:

I don't know about you, but recently I've been getting this message from fellow PIPS members. When I contacted them they didn't even know they sent it to me!
Today, I noticed that now I'm the one getting scammed! Looked like I sent this message to bunch of people from my address book, while I didn't send it!

Here's the message:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,

an income stream that can gradually replace your current job or career

--
Get $349,859.00 For A One-Time Fee Of $29.99! -

Does anyone know about this program? How do I stop them from sending viral messages to other people?

Lily

I wonder if these things have to do with those hackers getting into email accounts using the forgot password link? Although, I don't know why they would waste time sending worthless messages instead of getting into other things?

Anyway, I haven't seen these. If I got one, I would've deleted it before opening.

That's right Dave - just don't open anything you don't recognize who it came from.

I must say it is soooo annoying getting all these spam emails. I get 100's a day in my spam box some that make there way into my inbox. I wish I could make $1 for each email I reported as spam.

I also received this email, from people on my mailing list and from myself, this is why I opened it.
These things used to bother me in the past, but not anymore.

I have not received this email or if I did I didn't open it.

I do know that the junk email I get is caused by me signing up for some program at some time. If you are a curious person who signs up to get more information from several sites you will ge a bunch. The more junk you sign up to the more you will get. It could easily reach hundreds of junk emails a day.

To cut down on mine I used the unsubscribe link. Most places stop sending member emails when you do that. By the way, it's not spam if you signed up to get them.

Hi guys,

today I just noticed that they somehow able to get into my email account setting and added signature on my settings using their links! I deleted it but I don't know how they did that.

Yeah, you're right. I wish I didn't open it, but like Tanny said one of them is from myself, so I opened it. Darn!!

If was just embarrassing of people think that I was spamming them while I don't even know anything about it..

It's unclear just who owns what and all the parties behind the pump and dump scheme. But the bottom line is that Business Week, Forbes, Fortune and Investors Business Daily, whether they realized it or not, all were a part of that. That is mighty disturbing. Could they not do a simple background check as I have done and realize this was most likely a classic pump and dump scheme? Or was the desperation for ad dollars too great to pass up?

I agree, change your password often...Lily, I actually received one of those from your email address, so you might change your password ASAP if you have not done so already.

As for the forum - there is a setting in your options to receive email from members CLICK NOOOOOOO!

Anyone who wants to contact you through the forum can use private messaging and you do not need to receive emails.

You will get spammed if you do not change the setting. Unfortunately anyone can join the forum just for the purpose of sending spam - until they are reported, when they will be kicked out.

Receive email only from Admin.
