Hosting options?
Share on:

I see some people talking about moving their PIP site to Hostgator. Is HG an option when you sign up? Can I just move the PIP site to my own server if I want? Any other hosting companies that are options with PIP?

Hi Webatomic

Hosting with Host4Profit is one of the requirements of getting your PIP site.

However you can move it later to another host. It pays to keep your site hosted with Host4Profit for a minimum of 3 months because then you can remain an affiliate of H4P after you have moved your site to a new host.

Cheers for now

I believe it is only PIPS when you join, but you
can move it to any hosting company you'd like
latter but PIPS will not give you hosting support
and if you mess something up on your site with
another hosting company I'm afraid you're on
your own!

Plus, if you don't stay with Host4Profit for a certain
amount of time you won't be able to make the
monthly commissions from your sign-ups!

Hope this helps,

Bill Shultz

I've tried several times. The domain name is valid. Can I sign up with Hostgator instead?

Is that a space after the .org? Make sure there is no space there.

hahahaha.

Welcome to PIPS, webatomic

Being I don't know your real name or email I can't check to be sure you did Step 3 of the application?

After you set up Host4Profit, did you then complete Step 3 to submit the application to PluginProfitSite?

If no, please go back to pluginprofitsite.com and do that so I can get your site going for you.

...that way you can be filthy rich by Saturday. hahahahahaheh

Actually, there is a way around this. If you contact H4P, and let them know you want to move your hosting account, here's what they will do:

-You will have to register a FREE account with Enom Central, and H4P will push your domain to this account.

-Then you can log into your Enom account, and change the domain nameservers to the ones for your new hosting account

If you do this, you can keep your affiliate account with H4P ( at least I could).

Regarding Hostgator, if you choose to host with them, contact support, tell them you are moving your site. You can have them move all your files to your Hostgator account, free of charge. I believe you can only do this for one domain, then they will charge you for the service.

Alan Mater, another Warrior member, has a thread about moving his site to Hostgator. Here it is...

I don't think this is correct. I do not think you will make commissions.

I am checking with David Hasbrouck and I will report back.

Hi Pat,

Even after 3 months? They told me I could, but then I was with them for over 3 years. Look forward to hear back after you talk to David.

Thanks for clearing that up Pat. I didn't mean to give people the wrong idea, just relaying what I know...

with my budget, as I'm just starting out, Hostgator is a better option, even with a pay cut...

Thanks, Pat. I wasn't aware that non-active accounts take a serious pay cut. No one told me that when I switched. However, something is better than nothing, and the monthly fee difference makes up for the loss.

I'm assuming those numbers are recurring for the life of the account in both cases and not just one time referral commissions?

Yes, those are recurring monthly commissions for each referral.

No one told me either. You would think H4P would let those changing away know this, in an effort to keep some customers. Though I suppose they get enough new ones through PIPS that it's not a big worry.

This is something new (%)

- David is now going to update the TOS and etc for the affiliate program.

The rule as far as I knew for 5 years was you had to stay 3 months minimum in order to get WarriorPro commissions after you change hosts.

I guess David just gave a few away for free/made concessions to help people out - however - business is business, which last time I looked means make money -- and if it gets around that he doesn't have some way to protect himself from a mass exodus, he would be out of business.

I think this new % thing is a way to help everyone including his business, which is only fair.

All I know is they give awesome service and always over-deliver. I dont' mind paying for that.

Personally I would rather have $10 commission monthly for each account, than $2.50 - Only 3 sales more than covers the hosting -

I think part of what successful people do is 'abundance thinking' - plan on making more than 3 sales and don't worry about it - something like that -

(I have problems with this myself, always "pinching pennies" and am frequently "penny wise and pound foolish"....

I totally agree, Pat. That's very smart on David's part to change the %, because as you said, he needs to keep a positive flow of income, and if everyone switched while keeping full % of commissions, that would not be good news for him. I'm all in favor of it, and it's only fair for him to do so. I have no problem taking a cut as I pay so much less per month anyway.

Yes, their support is outstanding, and I never had a problem with them. But, when it came to my business and needing to cut costs, I had to make smart financial decisions in order to keep my website going forward. It was a decision much like David's.

I have to second Alan here. I never had a problem with H4P, and switched for purely financial reasons. No one should ever be blamed for doing something good for their business, and David is no exception.
