That's awesome, Graham.

Maybe we should start a Digg support group by Digging other people's posts... what do you think? I've thought about adding the Digg button to my blog. I see others have it, so why not? What's your thoughts on this?

Re: The power of Digg

I've been seeing all these different buttons on some blogs (StumbleUpon, Digg, etc) and wondered just how the heck do you get them inserted? Seems to me it would be an ideal setup for readers to be able to just click any or all of them to social bookmark them and provide the extra PR boost. I tried reading how to do it with StumbleUpon for my WordPress blog but it just got too technical for me. Is there some kind of WordPress plugin that accomplishes this?

Hi Bob,

These types of buttons can be inserted into your blog posts via a simple Wordpress plugin. You can get specific StumbleUpon, Digg, Twitter, etc. plugins for Wordpress that will install the button for you. Just do a simple search for these plugins.

There's also the AddThis and ShareThis social bookmarking plugins that will allow your readers to submit your posts to any of the major bookmarking sites. You can check out my blog to see both examples.

Alan,
Thanks for the information. I figured there had to be a way to do it that wasn't as complex as it seemed, so now I will go about collecting the plug-ins!

I personally would endorse the Addthis button. It has over 50 bookmarking sites on it, so no matter what you or your viewers use, it's in this button. You can get one here

Well done Graham for making it again.
You are a 'somology' Goober!
Digg it is a useful tool. I have all the buttons on my WP blog and has helped me to be on page 2 for the last 2 weeks with the key word- Profitablehome-biz. I encourage you to insert all the buttons on your WP if you can

Cheers,

Charles

Re: The power of Digg

That's great, Graham!

I have just returned to the PIPS scene after 3 years absence and wow some things have changed (i.e. social networking).

I do have a comment on search results and a caution too:

Comment: sites like Digg, Bloghitlist or whatever rely on members reading and/or voting for your post, article, etc. So a short claim to fame is to be expected when membership is in the thousands or millions. The long term benefits are much more rewarding I think - the search engine linkage.

Caution: I haven't explored this fully for Digg but some social networking sites have strict policies on what is loosely referred to as "selling or promoting products and services" (that phrase taken from Digg's Community Guidelines page). They are not necessarily policed, however. So i am not suggesting you have infringed on those terms but it is always prudent for anyone to check out terms and conditions of any site before joining or posting.

Usually it is simply a matter of being carefully creative within the rules.

I haven't had time to explore it myself yet.

Hi Graham,

No I didn't sign up. I looked at the rules they had regarding Digg and what all takes place. I ended up being quite confused after reading through everything. I think I'll just put up a Digg button for now.
