Hi Every body I am doing my debut SEO research. I have chosen 2 keyword phrases of relatively low search volume (both 5 word phrase). One ( key word A) has little bit higher search result count over other (keyword B). I want to optimize my PIPS home page with both of these 2 keyword phrases rather than 1. Now, where I will insert which keyword, can anybody suggest? In : Title- keyword A or B? H1 tag- A or B? ALT attributes-A or B? Body- A or B or Both? Meta tags-A or B ? One more issue. A web site is in number 1 position of Google 1st page for certain keyword. Its page rank showing 0 and has only 4 back link. But all these 4 back linked web sites are .edu sites has 3000-5000 pages and home page has high page rank. With infos above what should be my reasonable opinion? Is it worth competing? It would be okay if any body prefers to advice on only one issue as I expect that somebody else will advice me with the other Thank you all in advance |

The prefered method is to do it KeywordA|KeywordB You also want it in your keywords here, which is line six of your code. <meta name="keywords" content="keyword A,keyword B, Home Business Ideas and Opportunities"> You also want to sprinkle it throughout your website 4 or 5 times. Top, middle and bottom. Especially try in top left column. Many people reword the newsletter to get their keywords in it. You can use both throughout. Also, with your competition, use what they have as a guideline to what you need to do. It sounds like they have a lot of content, but not a lot of backlinks. If you do some good articles and blog posts, you should be able to get there too. Look at who is in the top three and compare the differences of how they achieved page one, and then do more. Mark |

Hi Amreen, If the site in question only has 4 backlinks, then it is definitely worth trying to beat even if they are from edu sites. Explore the edu sites they are from and see if you can get a back-link from them also.Maybe they have a blog you can post to. With regard to where to use your keywords, I would suggest you download Suzzane morrison's ebook on SEO for pips members......you can find it in the "Bonus" section of your pips back office. good luck. Hi Amreen, Usually when you are optimzing for two phrases or more you would separate the keywords in the title like this: <TITLE>Keyword A | Keyword B</TITLE> I would put the most important keyword in the H1 tag. If both are important then you could put the second keyword in an H2 tag, but don't have 2 H1 tags. Also make sure both keywords are in your meta description and mentioned throughout the body of your page, and once or twice in the image alt attributes being careful not to do it. Once you have done that concentrate on getting more backlinks than your competitiors, preferably interchanging the anchor text so that some links have keyword A and others have keyword B. Don't stop at your home page though. Optimize for lower competition phrases whenever you create a new blog post or a new page. You might like to download my Free SEO Guide for PIPS Cheers, Suzanne |
